Well, let's see.. Christianity is the following of Christ and is based on his death & resurrection roughly 2,000 years ago. After the resurrection he walked and talked with more than 500 people over a period of 40 days. Many of those people had previously hated him, but when they saw they believed. He did many miracles, healed the sick, and stood up for the "lowest" of society, even those who were caught red-handed in crime. He changed lives. The early church was persecuted horribly because the Jews thought they were blaspheming when they spoke of Jesus. Many were killed because they refused to deny what they saw, even those who had previously hated Jesus. That says a lot for the credibility of their claims. The ones who survived took the message with them wherever they went, and new church communities cropped up all over the place.
The message of Christ (the Gospel) can be summed up as follows.. God created us to have a relationship with him and to be happy. He gave us free will, with the ability to choose to love him or turn away from him, so that if we choose to love him our love will be genuine and not forced. Before long, man chose to turn away. Once the door was open to sin the whole world was corrupted, and we're all born into it and tainted by it. This corruption keeps us separated from God. Because God is perfectly just, he cannot simply excuse sin. There MUST be justice. But because God loves us he provided a way for us to have a relationship with him again. Jesus Christ, who is God the Son, offered himself up for punishment in our place so that we can go free. We don't have to do anything except trust in him and turn away from sin. Then God won't hold our wrongdoings against us, because justice has already been served through Jesus. Those who trust in him and turn away from sin become adiopted into God's family and a 2-way communication opens up.
Hope this helps. :)

Christianity is a monotheistic religion centered on the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. Christians believe Jesus to be the Son of God and the Messiah prophesied in the Old Testament, and they see the New Testament as the record of the Gospel that was revealed by Jesus. With one estimate implying 2.1 billion adherents, or approximately 33% of the world's population in 2007, Christianity is the world's largest religion. It is the predominant religion in Europe, the Americas, Southern Africa, the Philippines and Oceania. It is also growing rapidly in Asia, particularly in China and South Korea.
Christianity began as an offshoot of Judaism, and includes the Hebrew Bible (known to Christians as the Old Testament) as well as the New Testament as its canonized scriptures. Like Judaism and Islam, Christianity is classified as an Abrahamic religion (see also, Judeo-Christian).
The name "Christian" (Greek ΧÏιÏÏιανÏÏ Strong's G5546), meaning "belonging to Christ" or "partisan of Christ", was first applied to the disciples in Antioch, as recorded in Acts 11:26. The earliest recorded use of the term "Christianity" (Greek ΧÏιÏÏιανιÏμÏÏ) is by Ignatius of Antioch.
Although Christianity has always had a significant diversity of belief on bordering issues, most Christians share a common set of doctrines that they hold as essential to their faith, which include:
As indicated by the name "Christianity", the focus of Christian theology is a belief in Jesus as the Son of God and the Messiah or Christ. The title "Messiah" comes from the Hebrew word ×ָשִ×××Ö· (mÄÅ¡iáħ) meaning anointed one. The Greek translation ΧÏιÏÏÏÏ (Christos) is the source of the English word Christ.
Christians believe that all people should strive to follow Christ {"put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 13:14 KJB)} in their everyday actions. For many, this includes obedience to the Ten Commandments. Jesus taught that the greatest commandments were to "love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength", and to "love your neighbor as yourself."[73] This love includes such injunctions as "feed the hungry" and "shelter the homeless", and applies to friend and enemy alike. The relationship between charity and religious practice is sometimes taken for granted today as Martin Goodman has observed: "charity in the Jewish and Christian sense was unknown to the pagan world."[74] Other Christian practices include acts of piety such as prayer and Bible reading.
Christianity teaches that one can overcome sin only through divine grace: moral and spiritual progress can occur only with God's help through the gift of the Holy Spirit dwelling within the believer. It also teaches that, by believing in Christ, and sharing in Christ's life, death, and resurrection, God's children become dead to sin and are resurrected to a new life with Him.
cheers :)

Okee Nih-skun-nee,
Hello Friend,
Jesus Christ is the God, King, Lord, friend, and all things to the Christian. We have chose to give our lives over to him in belief of his promise to make us whole and full of peace. We have found that he is faithful to his promise. The burdens of the world have run us ragged, but his burden is easy and light. We still go through all the things every living person does, but with the confidence that God is on our side. Also, there is a peace that passes all understanding when we truly trust in him. He calls to us in our spirits and draws us near to him at sometime in our life. If he is calling to you now hear him and find a church that teaches the Bible. You will not regret it.

Christianity is a religion based upon the teachings and miracles of Jesus. Jesus is the Christ. The word "christ" means anointed one. Christ is not Jesus' last name. Jesus is the anointed one from God the Father who came to this world, fulfilled the Old Testament laws and prophecies, died on the cross, and rose from the dead physically. He performed many miracles which were recorded in the Gospels by the eyewitnesses. He is divine in nature as well as human. Thus, He has two natures and is worthy of worship and prayer.
Christianity teaches that there is only one God in all existence, that God made the universe, the Earth, and created Adam and Eve. God created man in His image. This does not mean that God has a body of flesh and bones. Image means the likeness of God's character, rationality, etc. Because we are made in the image of God, every person is worthy of respect and honor. Furthermore, this means that we did not evolve through random processes from a single celled organism into rational, emotional beings.
God created Adam and Eve and put them in the Garden of Eden and gave them the freedom to choose between right and wrong. They chose to sin. Sin is doing that which is contrary to the nature and will of God. For example, God cannot lie; therefore, lying is sin. The sin of disobeying God that Adam and Eve committed resulted in them being expelled from the Garden of Eden as well as suffering the effect of death.
As a result of their sin, their children and all of us inherited a sinful nature. In other words, our offspring are not perfect in nature -- we don't have to teach children to be selfish. They know it naturally. That which is sinful cannot produce that which is not sinful.
Christianity teaches that God is a Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, not three Gods), that Jesus Christ is the second person of the Trinity, that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead physically, that all people are under the righteous judgment of God because all people have sinned against God. It teaches that Jesus is the only way to be saved from the coming judgment of God and that salvation is received by faith in the work of Christ on the cross and not by anything that we can do to please God.
Where all other religions in the world teach that we must do some sort of good in cooperation with God in order to achieve the right to be in God's presence, Christianity is the only religion that teaches salvation by grace. This means that we are not made right before God by our efforts, sincerity, or works. Instead, we are made right before God by faith in what Christ did on the cross.
Christianity further teaches that once a person is "born again" (becomes saved) that the Holy Spirit lives in that person and the person is changed: "Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come," (2 Cor. 5:17). This means that God actually lives in the person and the Christian then experiences a true and living relationship with God.
Therefore, "What is Christianity?" is best answered by saying that it is a relationship with the true and living God through the person of Jesus Christ by whom we are forgiven of our sins and escape the righteous judgment of God.

God is all knowing. God foreknew man would sin. God is righteous and can not simply overlook sin. All sin equals death. God gave man the law knowing man could not live perfectly according to God's righteousness. Man did sin and fall short of the glory of God. God had a plan of salvation before he created us. God came to the world in the form of a man Jesus Christ to be tempted as man and to ovecome temptation and remain perfect and to pay the penalty of death for all who will accept the atonement. Jesus is the Son of God who paid the penalty for us and overame sin and death with his resurrection.
All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
The wages of sin is death.
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him will not perish but have everlasting life.
The Gospel is the good news that sinful man can be reunited with a perfect God through the atonement.

read the book of acts, there you will find that the followers of christ were first called christians. if you study the first christians in the book of acts then you may have a better understanding of the idea of christianity. many people have said that christian means christ like. it is more accurate to say it means follower of Christ and his teachings and doctrines. those that knew this best were his disciples who carried out what he told them to do in the book of acts.

Peace and love. Jesus was a hippie. He was also a leftist. "Love thy neighbor," "It's easier to get a camel through the eye of a needle than to get a rich man into heaven."
That's my interpretation, anyway. Then again, I'm an atheist, so what do I know? *shrug*
