He is a false prophet, and there is no "pope" in the Bible. His "job" is to mislead millions so they end up in eternal hell.
But the truth of God is that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins and rose again. If you believe that without adding works of your own, then you will be saved, and not go to eternal hell.
