Usually a combination of both, with some simply choosing to write that way as a part of their "style".

Good question! I think that it is a little of both. Although stupidity is a harsh word, you are on the right track. Some of the answers are written by young people, who as we know have little regard for authority, respect for elders or for our language. That is where laziness enters. It is sad that so many users are complacent with just typing "any old thing" and hitting SUBMIT.
It is so easy to just hit the CHECK SPELLING tool above the dialog box to check our verbiage, then MODIFY. But, where there is ignorance, soon comes laziness...or a reluctance to learn a better way to do things.
So, yes it IS both.

Definitely both laziness and stupidity are not good for the some people there especially when we will the answer and to solving of their problems.I think their attitude problems and me as an observant during I can do it my questions and they did answered not seriously and they did answered it in mixing joking or being craziest people and even they did not answered properly and I'm really serious about these my questions and I guess they did not a well educated when they answered it and I think we will should to do an extra careful when we will talking about this issues and I think we will didn't to avoid it on how to resolved it about this issues and hopefully they been learned about their mistakes for being undiscipline people and their attitude problems

I think the "I am in a rush to get my two points and leave" factor, also plays a major role in the way we write here on yahoo.
Those of us not worried about the strucure of the answers will not read over there answers. And if they do and notice that they are bad, they may say to themselves, o well.
As long as the point is made, the message can be written in spanish.

I think it's a little from column A and a little from column B.
plus there is a check spelling so it's not hard for them to just fix it, that's were lazy comes in.
I think Doctor John covered the stupid part, and he didn't even have to spell anything wrong.

I have had trouble with spelling all my life and even using spell checker is not always helpful. I do fins that I make spelling mistakes here that I would not make if I was writing. Things like there and their. were and where. I know the rules but I always foul up here

The problem here could be more to do with your impatience and intolerance.
It is all an issue of targetted audience and choice. The audience the question is directed understand and know what is being asked. The ones experiencing the problem simply are not the target.

While correct grammar and spelling are the sign of a diligent writer, does that mean that the barely literate should not have their say?
Yes.

I think its probably just being lazy. I could understand that when writing a text message, you try to limit the characters to minimize the cost but on the internet, where characters cost no more, its pure laziness.
