ARE WE ECO FRIENDLY CITIZENS OF OUR NATION?
Nature has provided us with all the resources for leading a beautiful life and she nourishes like a mother, we should respect her and nurture her .This is an eco friendly thought.
But whereas we think that man is all –powerful and the supreme creature on earth and man is the master of nature and he can harness it at his will is sadly not an eco friendly thought.
Today due to this kind of thinking mankind is engaged in different forms of warfare with nature .This has disturbed the ecological balance and put the nation in a situation where we are racing against time.
Many of us believe that we are progressing economically but what we don’t realize is that we are regressing environmentally.
“Pollution, pollution everywhere not a breath of fresh air neither a moment of peace to spare. Pollution, pollution everywhere”. This is the environmental situation of our nation.
The air we breathe is largely contaminated.Industrialisation is the main cause of large scale ai and carry oxygen cylinders o r pollution. The day is not far when all of us will have to wear oxygen masks n our backs.
The memories of the Bhopal gas tragedy are still fresh in our mind where more than 5000 people died due to a gas leak. Has the accident taught us anything? No
Water sources all over are largely polluted. There is not a single source of safely usable water. Holy rivers like the Ganga are no longer holy anymore. In fact the Ganges is one of the most polluted rivers in the world. Who is responsible for this? We are.
We know how the ozone layer is depleting because of the toxic gases like the CFC emanating from the earth leading to the harmful UV rays to reach the earth causing dreadful diseases. It is our negligence that has caused this problem.
Deforestation is the other major problem which we are facing. A.P is the most flood prone state. The main cause for this is large scale life which is in great danger. We have cases of a famous actor and prominent cricketer accused of causing harm to the wildlife. Who is responsible for this? We are.
We and only we alone are responsible FOR deforestation. The forests are disappearing at an alarming rate. Who is responsible for this? We are.
Man’s pursuit for pleasure and his greed affect the wildible for all this either directly or indirectly. In this kind of situation the question arises whether we are eco friendly citizens .The answer is an obvious one. Based upon the grim picture of environment I have presented one can easily say that, no, we are not at all eco-friendly.
All of us must do something to help nature .If we do not do anything I am sure that our end is near. We as citizens instead of protecting the environment very conveniently shift the blame onto the government. There are laws to protect the environment but sadly they are not strictly implemented and we do not give a serious thought to it.
We as individuals are not realizing our roles in protecting the environment.
We have to think globally and act locally in order to protect our nature. All of us need to change our lifestyle drastically.
There is still time. This is the moment of crisis and we need to do our best to prevent this fast approaching disaster. At the most we must try to control our activities. From now on we must always remember” PROTECT NATURE IT WILL PROTECT YOU.DESTROY IT, IT WILL DESTROY YOU.”

Depends on where you live. People who live in cities are automatically more eco friendly than most. People who live out in the country and live a very rural, self sustaining, life are also more eco friendly. It also depends on your income. For the most part, those with the least resources both at home and abroad, have the smallest impact on the local and global environment. So for the most part, the citizens of this country and the citizens of the globe are fairly eco friendly.
The problem lies with the elite minority that holds the wealth and the power.

I think that there are people out there that are eco-friendly. As a whole country, or even a whole world - I think no. I truly believe that global warming exists, I think we see the effects in our weather patterns we have had. I think that we are a long way from being eco-friendly in a TRUE sense of the word.

Not so much considering we still waste far more than those from other continents. Many of us are doing something but in the big picture because many do nothing and even increase their level of eco-disturbance, in general what we are doing amounts to very little as a general population of the U.S.

I think for the most part we are, otherwise, it wouldn't be reported so much and be such a big deal in the news. People care, so the news reports the latest news about being "eco-friendly" and "going green".

What matters is that we all try. Even tiny drips eventually make an ocean. Limit your own consumption of everything and limit the size of your own family. There are finite resources, preventing overpopulation and overconsumption are two ways in which we can all be more environmentally -friendly

No. Reason being that there are people like me who don't give a s**t.
I recycle and that's about it. The only reason I do that is because it's easy.
