You are right manufactures cannot just make things up....they can be held liabel if something were to happen because of that...like if peanut oil were used in a product instead of canola oil and someone died from an ellergic reaction for example....every record that is taken at a food plant is a federal document and lying on those documents is a felony....food companies are also auditted frequently by the government and third party firms to maintain the assurance that those kinds of things arent going on....if that is found to be going on the plant can be shut down....the companies dont want that because they lose money...the opposite reason they started the company in the first place....so know...they cant lie....if it says fresh squeezed orange juice...it means it.

Hello:
I know that the FDA has very strict rules and regulations when it comes to the companies who package food and drinks, but who knows what ingredients that the major food companies are using in their products that they ARE NOT telling the FDA about? I mean I am not trying to sound silly here, but who knows what else these companies are putting into our food and drinks that we or the FDA might not even be made aware of?
Think about it,some companies have these supposed,"secret,"ingredients that they refuse to share with even the general public, whose to say that they refuse to share their,"secret,"ingredients with the FDA too?
I mean someone could ALLEGEDLY spill the beans so to speak, and then EVERYONE would know the secret ingredients of a companies food or beverage and how those companies are able to make those products taste so good.

She'd be wrong. The FDA is and has been for a long, long time, regulating that content. There're standards to which distributors and wholesalers have to adhere. I don't think they're crazystrict, but I know they have to list ingredients down to the very tiniest of incremental value. On an ingredient list, the first listed is the main component of the product, and as you travel down the list, those other named are lesser valued.

In the case of OJ if it says fresh squeezed OJ, it is...I lived in Florida and saw how to process the oranges...you could smell the oranges being crushed miles away from the factory...
Watch out in the case of 'organic' though...it can be organic and still be genetically modified...

In the united states, all claims are checked by the FDA.
However, if you buy any herbal remedies, those are not regulated by the fda, and it is proven that ANYTHING can be found in those. Best to stay away from all those new age snake-oil scams. And they ARE scams.

I have thought that too. The funniest one is non fat half and half. Also msg is disguised by using the terms non hydrolyzed soy protein or spices. I think we just need to go back to the old fashioned orange squeezer to make juice.

Weeellll........it COULD possibly be a lie. Because you know they found fecees in Head and Shoulders and they found some iron s*** in toys from china. Then they found stuff they put in antifreeze in toothpaste that was from china. Oh yeah, and fecees is poop. I think that's how you spell it. They found some other stuff too. But you can never trust anything really, just take risks.

I agree with your friend, what they advertise is lies. And the pity thing is that no control on the advertisements.
So better to avoid all these packed foods and switch to natural foods.
