Just tell them "Thanks, but I'm not interested", Whatever you think of these guys and their religion, they're trying to do a tough assignment on very limited resources. Some of them tell stories of working and living in pretty austere conditions - small budgets, cheap motel rooms, no money for gas so they have to ride a bike or walk everywhere...

If you want to part on friendly terms, offer them some food and something to drink - water, milk, etc - and wish them luck. They may well jump at the opportunity.

I liked badkitty's answer,I thought it was clever, but I think just asking will do it with the Mormon visitors. Be nice, and say thanks, but I have my own religion, or thanks, I work nights, and you wake me up each time you come here, or I appreciate your dedication to your Mission, but I am not interested, please don't come here again. These are 18 year old kids, their church sends them out with little money, maybe bicycle for transportation, and they walk and knock on doors in all weather. I give them some respect for that. They do not deserve getting some of the treatment they get. They do mean well. And in my town, it gets very hot and humid in the summer, and the town is all very big steep hills. And they go house to house in a suit, or a shirt and tie.
Now that will not work with the Jehovahs! I have told them time and time again, and still they knock. I have tried my firm voice and serious face, and explaining my sleeping hours, I think it just makes them think I really am the devil, and makes them come back to save me. Next time, not so nice will be at the door, telling them in no uncertain terms, to go look for the devil elsewhere.

There aren't enough Mormons here for me to know from experience but the are some evangelist, and JW's here that drop by for a chat now and then. Invite them in even do them the courtesy of reading their little booklet and tell them your personal views. Then say "see you next year"...who knows you may enjoy the chat and make new friends whether you are interested in their Faith or not.

The best way to stop them is to quote scripture in the correct context when they get it wrong, I did that and they never came back to my door, if you show them you know what you are talking about, they will put you on their do not visit list, alternatively you could do what some people I know did, that is invite them in to sit down with a beer and watch x-rated videos, that gets them running.

Just tell them your religious views are different from their own, and just as you respect their views ask them to respect yours. If they are inquisitive after you have said the such then just be honest, I have had great debates in a friendly environment with Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses.. Then again, that usually prompts them to come back. Just tell them you are content with life and do not have the time for it. Be sure to thank them for trying, blah blah, etc.

My mother came up with the perfect solution to this problem years ago. We were Baptists by the way but it will work for anyone else's faith or beliefs even if they believe in Charlie Brown's "Great Pumpkin". When they come to the door and ask to talk to you about their beliefs, tell them you would be glad to give them 30 minutes to tell you what they believe if then they will first sit and give you the same 30 minutes to listen to you talk about what you believe .......Blank, blank blank.......If not you want to be put on their no visit list. Most of the time 99.99 percent of the time they will just leave. They are not allowed to listen to any other faiths or beliefs but their own.

My mother would just say I would love to hear what you have to say but first let me tell you about my Savior Jesus Christ and how to be saved. Evita

I told them I have a church that I am satisfied in.

When they went into what they believed I told them thanks for the info, And I did some research and watched how my parents lived and came to the conclusion its not for me nor my family.

They have not been back yet next time I'll sit down with them and let them Know and tell'em I'm not interested! I don't just jump on any religion train.

They can not be coming to your door that often, once you have told them you are not interested they will not be back for some time but they have a job to do, and missionaries change from time to time and people die, move away and sell their homes.
I politely tell religious people I am satisfied with my own religion and that if I change my mind I will get in touch with Them.

Post a sign on your door that says:

"Please, no religious solicitation of any kind"

or you can be specific:

"No Mormon Missionaries"

or:

"Excommunicated Mormon"

These ought to work. Another way you can do it is to tell them that you want equal time...let them know that you will listen to them, if they will in turn listen to YOUR beliefs (whatever they are). Usually, they won't go there. Anyway...good luck!

I'd try calling the local temple, giving your address, and politely asking that they stop sending Saints round to try and convert you. Given how nice most Mormons are, I'm sure they'd have the decency to accomodate you. Make sure you record the time and date of your request, and if your state law allows it, make an audio recording of the call itself. If they won't respect your wishes after you've asked them to cease contacting you, I'd call that harassment and look into getting a restraining order or filing criminal charges. Just because they're practicing their religion doesn't mean they don't have to respect the laws of the land, too.
