I guess you could say that I need a military for the same reason I need a doctor, or an accountant, or a barber. If I understand correctly, God expects people to do for themselves what they are able to do for themselves, and then He comes in and takes up the slack. In the Bible (which is the only source I can authoritatively discuss) God was always having to deal with one nation or another attacking Israel. Sometimes He let them take the hit, because they needed an attitude adjustment, and sometimes He intervened when they only had a token force, in order to prove something to the invading nation. But He never told them to just sit there and not do anything.

Good question, though. Thanks for the opportunity to address it!

I have faith in God to protect me, even if my leader or husband makes the wrong decisions. and that sweetie, is FAITH. (substance of things hoped for, evidence of things not seen). Not based on what you see. I think you are trying to lump all of us together again, like we all believe the same things as far as political decisions go. Peter cut off a guy's ear that was trying to take away Jesus, Jesus said "if you live by the sword you die by the sword" and healed the ear. I think we all know what Jesus thought about war and violence. He said "obey your leaders" Pray for your leaders that you may have peace. Obviously we haven't been praying enough. I think I'll do my part, today.

If you will read the Bible you will see that God uses the military as well as using any other group or individual. He did not clear the Promised Land for Abraham's people. He had them do it with military conflict. He used the people to take the land. So it would not be wise to have no military, because then we would have nothing for God to use against our foes.

no, we need a military to protect our country against people who wish us harm and to help protect others. Perhaps you should read the Bible...several times in the Old Testament there were wars and there was a "military" or army, they had faith in God and still fought.

We need a military to protect us against people that use god as the reason to kill. More wars have been started and more people have been killed in the name of God then any other reason in the history of man.

What are you talking about? Many of those answers to your other question were people trying to explain and listed instances where the God directs His people to fight. Instead of trying to trap Christians with trick backwards questions, find something more worthwhile to do with your life.

I'm sorry, but this came up and I had to answer.
It boggles my brain to think that God is the only answer to military aggression.
Try Marines.

Nope, we need a military because we have faith that God helps those who help themselves.

Pray as if you depend on God alone; work as if you depend on your work alone! Israel had standing armies as soon as it had kings. Do you believe that King David, a man after God's own heart, had no faith in God to protect him?
