I personally have to keep myself busy. The second that I have too much time by myself, my feelings of depression come back.
I recommend growing closer to your friends... let them be your crutch until you get back on your feet. Also, you are doing great by seeing a therapist. If needed, see him/her more often.
BEST OF LUCK!!!

Sounds like you're doing all the right stuff -- seeing a therapist and TRYING to be optimistic.
However, despite all the things we TRY to do for ourselves, makes only temporary difference. What I can extrapolate from your writing, is certainly signs of depression and dysthymia. A common misperception that people have is the ideology that they can actually CONTROL their symptoms 100%. This is simply not so. Depending on how long this has been going on (better than 2 months or so), you might want to consider some medication that could really help. Since we cannot CONTROL the neurotransmitters involved with depression, we must admit to this simple fact. Now, what we CAN control is WHAT we're going to do about it.
My analogy I use for my patients in this situation is that medication is a TOOL. As if we're going to do a specialized kind of repair, and we need a specific tool for the job. Often, these medications (per choice of health care provider) can REALLY make a difference. Then, the therapy can work much more efficiently, and you will learn how to UNDO some of the bad responses you have acquired through this time and promote healthy ones instead.
Use of medication, I like to say, can be used for a time of about 6 months, and then discuss the option of stopping the medication or continuing on. Some patients decide they actually FEEL better on the medication, and don't want to stop. Some will decide to stop, and taper off. No problem. You just need the right person to help you with this.
All the best to you.
Chin up! :)

Get exercise and eat a balanced diet. It's more important than you think. It will ease your depression. Your body makes natural antidepressants against physical stress.
One of the problems with today's society is that we are sedentary, automatically lending itself to depression. Get up and out and exercise - is the only way to beat the blues. If you can't do that, even a massage will help you body counteract the effects of a stagnant lifestyle.
You know what? Crying helps, too. It will help release the endorphins, the brain's natural antidepressants. That's one of the reasons that women will cry so easily at times. We men will often hold it in, but some are more prone to be active.
Just kickin' it is doing nothing for you but making you depressed in the future. Turn off the computer, or tv, whatever, and get some exercise.

Sounds like it's already hit. By the time you notice it, the chemicals in your brain(seritonin and somehting else) are already being deprived from your body. You can't help what your body does, that's like if you cut your finger and you tell it not to bleed, it'll still bleed. The best thing to do is see if your therapist can prescribe an anti-depressant for you.
In the meantime, try to eat green leafy things(helps a happy mood) and maybe find time to go on a walk everyday. When you exercise, you release endorphins(chemicals that make you happy), thus fighting depression.
I hope this Helps and Good Luck!

Take care of your health and eat a healthy diet of whole organic foods. Don't use a microwave as they turn your healthy food into something that is totally unnatural. Supplement with a good quality liquid nutritional product and take fish oil - salmon oil is great. Fish oil is important for proper brain function.

Maybe when you get to school you can try to get on a sports team, or meet as many people as you can and get involved with positive things going on. I'm sure if you find things you enjoy and get out and meet people you will be fine.
