Absolutely! I had a 1970 Ram IV, Formula 400 Firebird, which most likely was one of the top 10 worst winter cars in existence. With wide tires, 4 1/2" of ground clearance, and an enthusiastic amount of horsepower to the rear wheels, it was basically a power auger designed to propel you into the nearest ditch.
I put a set of radial snows (NOT all-season) and it made the car tolerable.
Consider buying a set of 4 and put them all the way round. A lot of the tire companies, for example:

sell winter tire and wheel packages. This works like a charm, and I've done it myself. Here in N. Illinois, I would put them on around Thanksgiving and take them off in March. Not only will you probably never wear them out, it will extend the life of your summer tires. Definitely safer and makes winter driving a lot more enjoyable.

Sure.
A car is a car. I prefer rear wheel drive. It's more controllable if you know how.
Do you consider the new Dodge Charger a sports car? Add a Police package, and that's what our State Troopers are using. The studded snows go on in October.
My '74 Charger, on Bias ply summer tires, would consistently out-perform any front wheel drive in the snow.

Absolutely you can. Put them on all four wheels, it makes a huge difference.
Put some weight, 200 or so pounds in the trunk as well.

Every winter I install 4 Bridgestone Blizzaks on my Mazda RX-7 in case I need to drive it {it does fine} instead of 1 of my 4x4s.

Your going to want to stick another pair in the front also - so you can steer it.
Yes it can be done - I drove a Camaro last winter - and I live in Northern Michigan
