I asked my french roommate for some aspirin and he gave me Efferalgan made by Bristol-Meyers Squibb. I can't find any information about this and the whole package is written in french. Can anyone tell me if this aspirin or something similar?

Efferalgan, (Paracetamol, Codeine), is given to treat pain and reduce fever, but unlike asprin, does not reduce redness or stiffness associated with inflamation.

Efferalgan's generic name is paracetamol.

It has antipyretic(fever) and analgesic(relieves pain) actions.

It is an effective substitute for aspirin which also has the same actions simply put in laymans terms.

Paracetamol is more prefered than aspirin in certain conditions. While both have antipyretic and analgesic properties, paracetamol is a weak anti-inflamatory agent than aspirin.

Paracatamol is basically alot safer than aspirin in terms of its safety and side effects.

Check out sources in the web and type in paracetamol. More information on its mechanism of action, etc can be read.
