I'm a muslim living in Egypt, and I don't want to give any misleading information but I know that stonning adulters is not practiced anymore and is replaced with civil laws, however for more accurate information you can visit any close by mosque or Islamic foundation near you and I'm sure they will have more accurate and detailed information on the subject.
Cocerning the part of the of categorizing Islamic countries, I would urge you to read more about Islamic history if you are truly interested because this is a big subject that can't be answered in an email, breifly, I just want to clarify the fact that if a lot of Islamic countries are backwards by today's measures, it is not because Islam as a religion but because we as Muslims may not be following our religion as we should. You also have to be very neutral and objective about the comparison criteria you decide to follow.

Yes thats true but then they also require rapists to marry their victims which christians also state should be done- or at least the victim of rape should bring the child to term according to christianity. On the other hand- America still has the death penalty and a lot of poverty that is akin to third world countries at least for those living outside the cities- so I daresay backwards thinking or living isn't unique to muslim countries. Fortunately I don't live in a backwards country where the aforementioned is law or life.

Are all Muslim countries backwards? There are few which are not, but they are few and far between. It just goes to show what happens when religion is allowed to gain power by entwining itself with the government. It is the same reason that the dark ages were the worst times in European history. Christianity had gained to much power and used it to oppress and control the masses. This is what is happening in most Muslim countries. Have you ever heard of Sharia law? In these places, you have normal governmental law and then you have religious or Sharia law which is just as strictly enforced. Could you imagine if America had biblical law and the rules of the bible were literally enforced on it's citizens? Can you see how quickly it's people would become oppressed? When you have people that are oppressed by religion, you are not going to have advancements in medicine and science. In many cases, advancements in these areas can contradict religion, and in most Muslim countries, this is forbidden. The word of Allah is not to be challenged or questioned. Religion is dangerous in any of its forms and needs to be closely watched to make sure that it has no place in government. Some day religion will be wiped out and when that day comes, man will truly be able to flourish. I wish it were going to be within my lifetime, but unlike most religious people, I am not delusional enough to believe in unrealistic things.

Stoning to dying is a Torah regulation. till Almigty Allah did no longer replace it via a clean regulation in Holy Quran, prophet Muhammad accompanied it. yet now Quran has prescribed punishment of a hundred strips for adultery. i don't be attentive to why our Shia brothers are nonetheless following Torah regulation? Muslim countries doesnt applies Islam. Actually, thier leaders are considered enemies to Islam. It is believed in Islam that god told people to take causes seriously. You should work. Muslim countries doesnt take by causes, so that they are the last of the world. and this is punishment it self.

Are all westerners STUPID?

We have been told that Islam will rise and fall and rise again at the end. This is the course of things to come....

Besides that most are part of the third world due to being exploited by western nations, ever hear of colonization, and NO, I'm not talking about Virginia either.

God is on our side but our we on HIS? This is the question we should be asking.

Anyway, God has a plan in everything. We might not have a great life now but our rewards are in the hereafter. This life is only temporary.

Allahu Akbar!

edit: I forgot to answer the part about stoning. Stoning is not the actual shariah punishment. Men have changed it and if you study other Abrahamic reigions you will see that they have corporal punishment. Are you feeling guilty for something you have done?

angaelic.daemon is SO wrong! It is the bible for rapists to marry their victims, THAT IS NOT PART OF ISLAM AT ALL.

I don't think that Muslims or their countrys are really backwords per se'. Stoning is a terrible thing and I think that its too extreme for any faith to partake in. Although I'm Christian, I know Muslims and Jews alike personally. If we look past what we see in the media you may find that they are not much different from eachother. But like everything else, we have those that take things to the extreme and loose site of what we are all about. Its about God.....who and what he is to us and what we are doing to move closer to him. We may take different roads to get there but whether we are Jew, Christian or Muslim, the destination is the same.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could stone adulterers to death in America? I mean, that would take out like 90% of our politicians, and like 85% of our "moral" leaders, wouldn't it?

(BTW, you may want to note that living in America, you are over 6X more likely to be murdered than if you were living in Kuwait; also, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, and Qatar are all considered first world based on their Gross National Income per Capita)
