Whenever we remind you of your final resting place, you get so angry and defensive, and out come the thumbs down and the "abuse reporting".

I don't believe in Never-Never Land or OZ, so if someone told me I was going there, it wouldn't upset me at all.

So why do you get so upset if someone says "You are going to Hell!" when you don't even believe in Hell???

I'm sure since you all love to point out perceived "contradictions" in our faith, one of you would be happy to explain this very real contradiction to me.

The expression, "You are going to Hell" is meant as an insult, and I take it as such, even though I don't believe in the idea of hell.

If someone said to you, "your mother is a wh*re", you would feel insulted, even though you know that your mother isn't. ('you' used in the generic sense - I'm not trying to insult you!!)

OK?

An atheist

Ok .... when you die you will be burnt in a person dungeon of a sadomasochist freak that will bring out your inner homosexual sadist nature by getting his personal pet dog who were deprived of sex when he was with his 12 disciples to f*** you.

Now, it should not anger you. If I get a violation notice or a thumbs down, it means you or some theists were angry and you lose. If it stay it means you agree with what will happen to you and the theists since there are no objection.

You see the points now?

---------

blazey, you finally get one of the point. Even though one does not mean it, but it will seems the opposition party is angry or upset, based on his/her own perception. The atheist might not be afraid of hell, but in the christian's view, they are afraid, therefore they thumb down and report abuse.

The other point I want to make is what is mentioned may not be true, but it still does not make the other person uncomfortable because it is still a negative comment. However, if the other person does not react to the comment, the person who make the comment will treat it as he agrees with what he is saying. It is a do you agree and don't you agree situation.

The point is not that we are afraid of Hell as it doesn't exist. However, Christians have used Hell and Damnation as a whip against generations of humans. This has resulted in legislated morals and discriminatory social norms.

A different take on it is that we've heard it a thousand times before and it is not going to change us in any way. But what we keep asking is "What evidence is there that there is a god?" and/or "What evidence is there for your book?" . Having these questions answered by meaningless assertions and "Believe or burn" is extremely frustrating to say the least.

Hell is stuff of pulp fiction- the early christians believed that hell is located in the center of the earth and likewise that heaven is located in the clouds. The egyptians believed that heaven is located in a certain locale in space - one presumes that hell for them was located in subspace, my point here is that since christianity utilised everyone elses religious beliefs and incorporated them into its own system very much like the egyptians did before judaism and christianity were ever brought into existence- the chances of hell being real is highly unlikely since its all based upon mythology and in your case the bleak hope that hell/heaven exists. The twist here is that modern day christians are now telling people that heaven or hell is inside them basically saying 'we are what we eat', therefore it seems to me christians don't have a general consensus or even faith regarding their own religions philosophies.

Well, for one thing, atheists disagree with that conclusion, meaning they believe you've given a false answer, meaning they give a thumbs-down.

Also, very often, the answers aren't just, "You're going to Hell," but instead are these long rants. It's understandable to get offended when someone says, "And you're immoral! And you don't fall in love! And you're liars! And here are all these REALLY LONG BIBLE PASSAGES IN CAPS AND NO PUNCTUATION EXCEPT FOR A LOT OF EXCLAMATION MARKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now accept Jesus or burn for all eternity in this place of torture that I'm now either going to describe in way too much detail, or be really vague about. And atheists suck! And you're morons! And you eat puppies with forks and knives made from the bones of Jewish kids from Auschwitz, because you WANT to go to Hell! And all the problems in the world were caused by atheists! And all atheists are evil! And all Christians are awesome! And you suck! And yo momma so stupid, it takes her two hours to watch 60 Minutes!"

That's often what we're objecting to.

Giving a thumb down doesn't mean one is angry or upset, it merely means 'bad answer' or silly answer.
And about the abuse reporting, I once asked if the world is 6,000 years old (based on the genealogy from Adam to Jesus) and my question got deleted, some Christians must have reported me.

? you are wrong . if atheist is afraid of hell , they would have converted . it's easy

but why do they get pissed ? because saying or telling someone to go hell is rude.
if you tell someone that their mum is a whore , even though they know it's not true , it's rude and they get angry.

hell is a negative word. it doesnt have to be real to be known as a negative place to be.

so there, there's no contradiction , and you are just trying to make fun of atheist , it's people like you that turn people off from christianity , i hope you are happy that you've succeeded

and people always tell me ' it's the demon that's turning you from god '

wow , suddenly it make so much sense who these demon are

Because you are going to go to hell is used as a means to control and threaten people.

I'm against capital punishment - so even though I am positive I am never going to ever face capital punishment it upsets me to hear about others being threatened with it. To me the threat should not exist.

Your hell makes me feel as ill as capital punishment does. Neither - as a threat or as a reality - has any right to exist.

The thing is that people like you are so sure of yourself, and take it upon yourselves to be judge and jury. Not that it matters one bit to me because you are welcome to your delusions.

What i don't like is the way people like you are so hypocritical, and seem to get off on the fact of people suffering. What sort of person enjoys things like that. Also isn't there something in your bible about false prophets, and Jesus saying "depart from me, i do not know you".

As you believe in all that stuff i would be careful if i were you because you may not get what you're expecting eh.

Atheists are not afraid of 'hell'. But they are defensive against being 'damned to hell' by majority-rule religionists who have historically burned, killed, tortured, persecuted and demonized people for not following their religion, or for being gay, or female, etc etc.

In fact, many religionists still do these things. They are the kind of people who persecuted Jews for years and when Hitler finally killed 6000000 of them, these same people believe that the souls of the murdered Jews will now burn for eternity (because they weren't Christians.)
