Cortisone shots are usually very painful, because they must be injected slowly, and can't be injected fast. If you have only had (1) shot, don't expect instant relief for your symptoms. It will take time and you will possibly need several more shots.
You have no grounds for a suit unless you have an allergic reaction to the shot due to not being screened for allergies beforehand. Most Doctors limit the injections to four then if it hasn't worked to give you relief, they seek other treatments for your symptoms. Any more than 4 shots and your body will create/develop scar tissue at the injection site that could cause further complications with your treatment of symptoms.
Hope this helps.Good Luck!

Cortisone shots treat the symptoms not the problem. He was not an incompetent MD, I'm just not sure whether he gave you all the options & most people even then opt for the shot just to get relief. They are incredibly painful which is why I refuse to get them and on top of that they are only temporary.

Go to a massage therapist. He/she will work the muscles in your shoulders to relieve the tension in the tissues that are causing your problems. The deep tissue massage can be painful in itself (although not excruiating) but the results are well worth it & much longer lasting than the shots.

No, four times I have had cortisone shots along with Prednizone treatment. Three worked, one did not. All from my favorite Doctor of 28 years.

Sue? Are you one of those law suit junkies that waste the courts time? Some things in life are just PAINFUL.

It is not HIS fault you hurt yourself. The shoulder takes a LONG time to heal. My husband hurt his at least 5 years ago and still has some problem with it. I have some problem with my left shoulder and have know idea what even caused it.
It is part of the joy of growing older. Yuck.

You have to stop doing what you do that causes the pain. Rest the shoulder. Ibuprofen daily might help, it works on inflammation and swelling.

somtimes Cortisone injections hurt like heck when the Novacaine wears off...put ice on it..it usually takes 2-3 days for the Cortisone to fully kick in..if you still have pain after that then I would let the MD know who did it and tell him..sometimes they do miss the exact spot where you need it the most
