an outstanding personality trumps those tramps with the legs and wasp waists etc.

Depends on the man.
If the man is only interested in a physical relationship, then he is going to look first at looks, and then, when that fails, look for someone desperate enough to settle for a cad.
If the man is interested in finding someone to care about, then physical looks might get his attention, but a lack of personality and brain will probably turn him off. A person who has a lot of positive personality can make an impression on this type of guy by being consistently positive and getting to know the guy.
Of course, if the girl is more interested in a guy's looks, or money, then she shouldn't be surprised if the shallowness is returned.

I think it is a mixture of both. I know everyone thinks guys are pigs because they like pretty girls. But, let's face it, most women are guilty of the same things. The building blocks of a relationship are attraction. For some people that may revolve around specific looks more than others but, the bottom line is no one starts to build a relationship with someone who is unattractive to them.
That doesn't necessarily mean ugly. There are alot of things that are unattractive to me, like baggy pants on a guy. I don't want to see his underwear until it's time, if you know what I mean. I also think glasses are kinda cute. So, there are physical guidelines and preferences with everyone at the beginning.
However, personality and intelligence are the most important factors to me when considering if I want to continue dating someone or move on. This can differ as much as looks; everybody is different. Some people prefer risk takers, some may prefer reserved people. The choices are endless.
Basically, whether you are male or female, I think both looks and personality count.

I don't have a formula for what to look for in a woman. You can't put a formula to something so complicated but you just know when you see something you like. A woman does not have to look like a Hollywood glamour girl to be attractive. A nice smile or sparkly eyes can do it. Or even a laugh can be attractive. Most men try to avoid playing games. That is deeply unattractive and tiresome. And once I have met and spoken to that woman I will make my excueses and leave if there is no personality to go with the smile/eyes/laugh. Fun with a sense of humour and calm confidence usually do the trick. Best of luck.

The first time you meet a person its always about the looks. You dont know anything about the persons personality until you start talking to them. That is with men and woman.

Looks for sure depending on the man. Women do the same thing too. A lot of women only date men based on their looks. I think some guys do only prefer a girl with a good personality. Honestly, I think it depends on the guy!!!

Depends on the man, and where he's at in terms of a relationship at the time. If he's just come out of a long, serious relationship, he may not want anything more than a fling - meaning, as wrong as it is, looks take priority. But, if he's searching for his soul mate, personality will always take the cake - if you can't enjoy being around your bf/gf everyday, the relationship is doomed. For me though, it's always personality, but that's because I can't commit short-term.

the whole good looking thing is a plus. i seriously go for a sense of humor in a girl, i love joking and busting chops. so i'd have to say personality. but u have to understand most guys, they are about the looks. but there a few men out there that dont care either way

I have asked a guy that before and 75%of guys go for looks, 25%go for personality that was what I was told once by a bunch of guys at my work and that is slobbish dont u think?

Honestly, it depends on the person. Someone may be somewhat attractive, but not drop dead gorgeous, but their personality really makes them shine. Some people will only go out with someone who looks really good to them and everyone around them.
