I'm straight, married and believe in God. I 100% support gay marriage. I don't get how anyone can not??????? Why do people want to impose their beliefs on other peoples lives? Even god gives free will.

Our government needs to get out of the marriage business completely. There should be no such thing as "legally married."

Our laws already protect children if they were conceived in marriage or not.

I don't care one way or the other about gays or their "rights", they have the same rights that I do. Getting married in the USA is not a right. And, again, our government needs to repeal any laws as to marriage. Those people that chose to be single all of their lifes are made to pay a larger share of taxes, why? That is not right.

We have those promoting the anti-gay agenda telling us that sex outside of marriage is wrong. They call it fornication and say we are sinful for engaging in fornication. But then they tell us we cannot get married, because their homophobia should be the basis for the laws we all live under. My question is why are they promoting fornication among gay people if fornication is a sin?

The first answer you received is a perfect example of what you are talking about. That individual is using nothing more than a religious objection, a religion that the individual chose to follow. They have no right to impose their views on others.
There was an interesting article last week that talked about civil unions between 2 men...600 years ago. I'm surprised that no one on YA picked up on it. The concept of two men or two women forming a legal union is nothing new.

I have read by someone who believes in God.
I am straight and I too am happy for Gay people.
As a matter of fact I actually love the love they
generate to people. It is nice to see that you support them.
Good for you.

People used the Bible to support slavery, you can twist whatever you want and take things out of context so that they fit what you want them to say. God is love, I don't see why He would deny some people the love of marriage.

Christians wanting to not only have their beliefs and live by them but also wanting to impose them on others who don't even though they aren't restricting their personal freedoms or life scare me. They want to strip away free will. if one religious group is allowed to do that where will it end? What if a religious group you didn't agree with came to power? Wouldn't you hope to live in a society that protected the rights of people to live their lives by different beliefs for their minority? Unless all groups are free to live according to their beliefs than no one is really safe to assume that freedom for themselves, it only a matter of might or numbers making right. I'm not gay but giving them equal rights impedes my rights and life in no way. There are no grounds other than religious discrimination by the majority to deny their rights.

Marriage is not just about procreation people. There are couples that can not have children and there are couples who choose not to have children. Not all people share your views on God's wishes or desires and not all people even believe in God. So long as they are not harming you there is no grounds other than your religious discrimination to deny them the right to live their lives as they wish.

Because people think if other people don't think like them that makes someone not as good as themselves.

Same for everything really, how someone looks, how someone dresses, it's all very stereotypical.

People can't handle the fact that someone is different from them and doesn't follow in their footsteps therefor they have to shove what they believe down others throats to try and bring someone "up"(in most cases down) to their level of insecurity!

Marriage isn't all about procreation as many forget it's about love plus some couples can't have babies. Gay marriage should be legal

i agree completely...i don't understand why people get so upset about it.

how is someone else getting married affecting their life in any way? i know a lot of married people and their relationships don't affect me at all.

i hear things like you can't be tolerant of everything...what about pedophiles...and so on.
that's just ridiculous...people need to use common sense. of course you can't tolerate that kind of thing, but it really has nothing to do with gay marriage.

o.k. i'm starting to rant...bright blessings to you.
