Oh certainly. There are American missionary groups right now in Africa (the end of the world can't come until "all the world has heard the word"), and in the Holy Land (campaigning for the rebuilding of the Temple - a key pre-Armageddon requirement, specifically with the intent of bringing the prophecies of Revelations about.
These are possibly the most scary human beings I've ever heard of - so certain of their faith they are prepared to work against the interests of humanity's survival just to see their prophecies confirmed.

Oh yes, I think it is entirely possible; look at the conservative right wing Evangelical Christians and Radical Extremist Muslims. If anything religion-associated ends the world, it will be these two nutjob groups fighting each other to do "God's/Allah's will". Which will of course include lots of killing, hatred, torture, bigotry, and all that lovely stuff that comes from radical religious zealots.
Of course, there are also the Scientologists. I don't think they are trying to end the world like extreme Muslims and Christians per se...I think they're more for the (sneaky and underhanded) complete and total zombification and brainwashing of people that religion is so fond of.
I don't mean to be bigoted; I truly don't. And I am not an Atheist, so it isn't like I cannot relate to religious people; I'm a free thinking Christian with some Pagan and Eastern influences. However, when certain beliefs are held so tightly, and taken to such an EXTREME, it's terrifying!
If your beliefs tell you that it is okay to kill people, torture people, hate people...then maybe your beliefs need a bit of reconstruction and deep thought; it really is just ridiculous, the amount of hate and fear and war that religion generates.
I have always clung to this idea...Belief in God can be great and helpful, wondrous, amazing thing---but when you bring religion into it, you do yourself a disservice.
At any rate, yes it scares me. To have people like these running the world, with their collective fingers on "the button"...sometimes it keeps me awake at night.

I think it possible that some nut-hole would try it. And make the rest of us look dumb in the process.
I think that when it happens, the people involved (even the Anti-Christ) will not even know that they are in fact acting out a prophecy. They will just think that they are doin' what they're doin'.

Yes , Iran let off a few and Israel reciprocated even more and Russia joined in - America let it flies as self defense measure.
China mistaken it as aiming at them fires some of their own.
What a Chaotic world we would have then!

there is a whole community of people that are trying to bring about bible prophecy and when i say community i don't mean a little group of people in a village. i mean there are allot of highly influential (rich) people that are i guess Judea Christians they are refereed to as end timers. they are continually doing things to bring about these prophecies, including construction of a Jewish temple on the temple mount in Israel advocacy of war and neglecting the issues of global warming. here is a link watch it it is pretty good

I think that some of them would certainly like to if they knew they could get away with it.
Some of them certainly have the persecution complex for it.....
