Soon after freedom in Aug,1947,works started on WAR FOOTING to make pakka road to join Pathankot of Punjab with Jammu, the only access route for entry of Indian army later from Oct. end 1947 to capture Jammu & kashmir. A floating bridge on river Ravi on the way too was made. Telegraphic communication lines too were secretly laid along this route upto Srinagar beyond Jammu, all required for military action. Earlier, all those things were existing on Rawalpindi-Srinagar highway, the only all weather open natural route to Srinagar. For those all funding, engineering expertise & labourers went from India by planning of Sardar Patel, as written in book: 'Patel, A Life' by Rajmohan Gandhi. All works were completed by15 Oct,1947. Earlier, the route was unusable for a bullock cart. Was this done without India's pre planning with king Hari singh of Kashmir for accession ? Clearly without that India'd not have captured militarily J&K on 15-8-1947,even if king wanted so. Why hiding from public ?

Anil Athale, former Gorkha Division man & editor of 'Sunday Observer', Mumbai weekly(closed now)2 reported in article'Genesis of Border Dispute' in October, 26, 1997 edition that works began immediately after getting Gurdaspur in India in Radcliff Award, by great Indian planning to connect Pathankot to Jammu by road & telecom lines & Patiala Sikh Infantry was sent on 19th July, 1947(before freedom) to Srinagar for the purpose to quell Muslim rebellion against his preplanned accession of J&K stae to India. It is fact that king Hari Singh was not in a position to accede J&K to India on 15 th August, 1947, as road & telecommunican link to Srinagar with India was not existing through Pathankot-Jammu-Srinagar route which was narrow, rough, daily tremor prone & in case of revolt he could not have taken India's military help to save his empire. That's why he delayed his plan. Then why is it told that king acceded J&K to India AFTER Pathan tribal invasion on22nd October,1947,having no choice ?

Not so hidden if YOU know all about it, is it!!

Seeing as India didn't get its Independence until 1947 it must have been planned and made in a relatively short time, maybe we could get them to come here and build our roads to that specification.

Thousands of laborers work on a project and never talk about it. ROFL!!!

Any way it was over 60 years ago so whats the relivence of your question.

The poster seems like an anti-India Pakistan supporter trying to garner support for Pakistan in a rather roundabout and crude manner.

The entire logic is flawed and full of wrong statements just to prove that Kashmirs merger with India wasnt right.

When will such people learn anything at all.

I agree with funnysam2006...the poster seems to be either a Pakistani propaganda agent or an avid India hater...nonetheless his/her posts seem 2 b hell-bent on showing India in poor light...n Pakistan, a failed state btw, as the perennial victim...this person IMO has no idea what he/she is talking 'bout...n would do much better to remember this old adage:

U can fool...all the people some of the time...
U can fool...some of the people all the time...
U can't fool...all the people...all the time...
