He doesn't start nursery for 3 more weeks. Today we are going to an indoor play park but then I have no plans. We've been to the zoo and farm, swimming, parks, picnics, drawing, play dough, reading, singing, and to the seaside recently. Is there any more to do?

I didn't say we haven't just hung around at home as well. I just didn't think that was worth putting in the list! We have played with his friends too and had quiet days together.

The Cheapest Option...??!!
Grab some old cr@p and Play with it ..
newspaper, toilet roll tubes cardboard boxes... anything!!
put an told towel down or a blanket, get out the scissors and the sticky tape, glitter is cheap too , anything... and go wild!
in your local £1 shop, or the sale rail at Woolworths, Anywhere.. get some Tissue paper, those Funny-edged scissors, glue, glitter, paper and pens and stuff...
pipe cleaners, straws..
You get the idea.... Get down and dirty and entertain yourself and your son... You'll love it, and you can do it More than once for No Extra cost

Which of those things did he enjoy the most? Keep doing what he likes. My 4 year old son would never get tired of playing at the park!

Yes, you can play with him at home in the yard, or go to the library.

Sounds like your a good mom but keep in mind ,playing with your child is nice but constant entertainment is not. Kids do need to learn to have calm quiet times .Otherwise you are going to have your hands full in the future.

Make some playdough and let him have fun rolling it out and squidgin it. Keeps my 6 year old occupied for hours. Or make some flapjacks, fill the bowl with water and let him "wash" plastic pots. Make hoopla out of old toilet rolls-paint them different colours and make hoops to throw over them.Make some jigsaws out of magazines, do some colouring, have a picnic. Should keep you going for a while. If you need the recipe for playdough or flapjacks, i will let you have them.

I like to put my kids in the bathtub to play. I son't wash them I just let them play. I also believe that kids need to lear the entertain themselvs. If u are trying to entertain him constantly, he is going to expect it and throw fits when u don't. I think it is great u have taken him to do some fun stuff over the summer. I have put flower on the kitchen table and let my sons drive their hot weels cars in it. htey love to make roads and hills and things, yes it is messy but they love it. you could even let them do it outside on a piece of cardboard or on a tarp. I also give my kids the Craft Box and let them go. U could be supprised ehat they come up with. then they get to use their mind. Relax and enjoy your kids, they don't need to be busy all of the time, let him lear how to keep himself busy. Good Luck!

You are his mother, not his tour guide!! Stop working so hard and just enjoy being with him.

Invite some other mothers and their children over for a play date for him and, by the sounds of it, some much needed adult interaction for you.

And by the way, just because you have done something once, it doesn't mean you can't do it again. I would focus on the more intimate moments, reading, singing, painting, cooking together, watching a movie, or just being silly. It all goes so fast, relax and enjoy it.

Take him to a park, does not cost money and is fun for a 4 year old. My son would ask to go every single day. Make popsicles with him, make cookies with him...Go for walks, let him ride his bike, read to him, play with blocks with him, go to the library with him..

Take him to the park. Then when at home let him help with the housework, mine used to love having a duster and polishing. They would spend hours playing in the sink washing up. Visit friends, or invite friends with children to your house and let him help make cakes for them. I used to give mine coloured pens and let him colour pictures in the news-papers, or tell him to colour in all the "O`s" (This takes ages). Hope it helps.....Good Luck.
