there really is no way to describe for you what it feels like. many of my friends as well as myself are tattooed and none of us even agree on the pain level for different places. i would compare it to a cat scratch. a definite sting that lasts for the duration of the tattoo.
good luck with the divorce and your closure.

Tattoos hurt, this is true, but they are not nearly as painful as giving childbirth, for crying out loud. The extent of it ranges from being mildly irritating to maybye suppresing a moan. And that's the truth of it. Doctors have hurt me far worse than most tattooists ever will. Getting tattooed is like having a cop in yuor rear view that won't go away. Thats about it. It's irritating.

I have a green three leaf clover on my right hip and it didn't really hurt. It didn't feel good, but I wasn't crying or anything. To me, the outline felt like a my cell phone was on vibrate and was being pushed really hard into my hip. The coloring felt like someone was scraping a metal bar across my skin.
Of course everyone experiences pain differently. I'm a big wuss and I lived to tell about it. Good Luck and I hope you are happy with your decision!

I've only got 4 tatts, the 4th being done only a couple of days ago and I would say it depends on where you have it done. I've found the thinner the skin the more you feel it bite. The worst I've has so far are the back of my neck and the base of my spine.
In general it should feel like a warm buzzing sensation on the skin, but it can vary due to location.

I don't think it hurts really, a few spots sting a little. Most areas hit tickelish spots on me. The fattier the tissue the less it is supposed to hurt. I will say between my toes hurt bad. I was told that if you pinch yourself where it hurts worse is where the tattoo will hurt worst. I don't know about that I have over 30 tatts I find the inking relaxing. Good luck:)

I got my 1st tattoo in Asia it was 110 degrees. The place was clean and sterile. I was just sweating like a pig and I couldn't pass out because of the heat. Every motion, poke and feeling of that needle was felt. It was the worse sensation I felt in my life, If I could compare the pain with the heat ,it's like a sharp object poking you fifty times over and over and over.

Giving birth to my daughter was WAY worse than all 7 of my tattoos!!!! I have 4 on my feet (hurt the most), one on my hip all the way down to my mid leg, my shoulders. So I think you could handle it!!! I don't think that they really hurt, more just annoying(spelling?)!!!

i dont think it hurt really bad at all. my first and only tattoo was on the top of my foot, the artist told me thats one of the most painful places you can get it, but all that hurt me was the outline, which to me, was less painful than getting your eyebrows threaded. the coloring in didnt hurt at all.

while it really does depend on both person and area, most people I've spoken to (and including myself) all agree that most of the time it feels like a cat kneading you (when they just have to stick their claws in an out) it can go from anything like stingy to down right agony.
i was rather lucky, it was just stingy for me. ticklish at some bits!
