both . He was avatari , because He said in Srimad Bhagwad Geeta to Arjuna that " Arjuna you do not know , we both had taken so many births , i know , but you do not know them .secondaly the knowledge of Sri mad Bhagwad Geeta can not be given by any Superhuman , but by only the Lord .
