Mas Oyama did defeat a bull with his barehand (unlike the matador he doesn't use weapon) so can someone like him defeat a gorilla? I pick the gorilla over other animal is because the ape have feature similar to us, some say they are our ancestor.

No and the oyama guy was a gimmick too. being an international greco heavyweight who also boxed a lot for fun in the army I have actually wondered to myself just how it would go.

until I saw a friend attacked by some long armed monkey on a chain in the third world. They had been feeding it beer and stirring it up and it went beserk and grabbed and bit him. It would have weighed less than 40lbs and its arms were too strong for him to pull it off, and two more of us had to join in.

It was real "get the alien impregnator of ripley" stuff and we were sweating by the end of it.

I don't what sort it was but it was all arms, maybe a gibbon or something but I figured then if a gorilla weighing ten times as much as that monkey got hold of someone they had better be able to turn into the incredible hulk to survive it.

i really doubt that a person could defeat a full grown silver back gorilla with his bare hands. The gorilla has the highest muscle content per pound of body weight in the animal kingdom. Many martial arts moves would not be effective against the brute strenght. Many farmers would rather face a angry bull than a boar. A gorilla also has teeth , arm reach , can snap foot thick bamboo as easy as you would snap a pencil. Just too many weapons. Its possible, but highly unlikely

Well said a a! Yeah, course a matial artist would be able to defeat a gorilla! But the opposite can happen just as simply.

It all depends on where, when etc. Like all animals, Gorillas have weaker spots such as the eyes. Just think of all the possibilities you can do!

But yeah, over any animal, our power comes from our heads, not our muscles.

Never will happen. havent you heard of chimpanzees making a full grown man cry just from gripping his hand? Chimps are a lot smaller than the gorilla =P

"and by the fact that the average chimpanzee has over 5 times the upper-body strength of a human male.[12] As a result virtually any angered chimpanzee can easily overpower and potentially kill even a fully grown man, as shown by the attack and near death of former NASCAR driver Saint James Davis.[13][14]"

The average man can bench press his bodyweight.

The average gorilla can bench press 5 times its bodyweight.

My guess is that a well placed side kick into the ribs of a large gorilla would be answered with the man being torn apart bone by bone.I think this would take only a few seconds.

Oyama visit the bull for a couple of weeks before the fight. He did so under the cover of night. He would stick a pin in the bulls nose each visit. When it came time to fight the bull recognized the sent of Oyama and ran in fear.
He used his mind, not his brawn.

Gorilla's are an endangered species, so are GREAT martial artists. I would not want to see them fight each other.

"some say they are our ancestor." How bad has basic science instruction in our schools gotten? If science is actually correct, and we are indeed communicating over these computers, and if God is not a deceitful liar setting out for us "false" information in our world like some big spoiled baby, but instead God is what God was from the dawn of time, the creator of the universe, then we did not evolve from gorillas, but from Australopithecus.
Gorillas are quite strong, so I doubt a martial artist could defeat one 1-on-1.

Milo of Crotona and Masutatsu Oyama killed bulls with their bare hands. They could kill gorillas too. Gorillas do not know martial arts. I am a 360 pound martial artist and powerlifter. I am as big as a gorilla and nearly as strong, plus my techniques and speed are surely superior to those of any gorilla.

Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969) was history's greatest martial artist. Even as an old man of eighty, he could disarm any foe, down any number of attackers, and pin an opponent with a single finger. Although invincible as a warrior, he was above all a man of peace who detested fighting, war, and any kind of violence. His way was Aikido, which can be translated as "The Art of Peace." Morihei Ueshiba is referred to by the practitioners of Aikido as O Sensei, "The Great Teacher".

Where on earth can you get a gorilla for you to practise on? Yeah, a gorilla is your cousin, then do hurt you own relative!
