I've been wearing contacts for 9 years and just started having this problem about a year ago. I wake up in the mornings and I have this stringy goo in my eyes. I know that sounds nasty but I have no other way to describe it. Usually by the end of the day I've pulled about 3 stringy goo's from each eye. What makes things slightly worse is that I wear contacts so during the day if a goo appears it tends to stick to my contact. So I have to blink like 50 times to get it to move! lol. The goo is usually under my lower lid and it's sometimes easy to get out. Other times it's just too small to see. But I can tell it's there because it will stick to my contact. I don't sleep in my contacts, I don't have an infection, I'm currently taking Elestat drops for eye allergies. The doc said that may help clear up the goo. Well it hasn't. It's not causing any problems it's just inconvenient and the doctor hasn't been able to give me a good explanation. Has this ever happened to any of yall?

I really don't think it's an infection. I've seen my doctor twice since I started having these goo's and he never mentioned anything about an infection.

Sounds like typical symptoms of eye allergy. You may have to discontinue lens wear for a short time or use a better cleaner. And it is possible you are also reacting to your lens care solutions. Are you using disposable or frequent replacement lenses? Non disposable type lenses can get coated and cause "goo".

You may need to see an allergist for further allergy work up.

I don't know about goo--but I DEFINATELY would not go pouring pepper in my eye. What the hell is that?!? *lol* I'ma ll for home remedies and using the unexpected...but I mean really.

I would honestly go to another eye doctor, or if the one you went to primarily WASN'T the same people that do your eye exams, then go to them. Maybe look your symptons up on WEBMD.COM or do some sort of search for eye doctors online, so you can just email them if you can't get in to see a second one

You are probably dehydrated so your tears will tend to make a mucous film, or goo strings that usually stick to the corners of your eyes but tend to float around when you blink. Drink a lot of water (not milk, energy drinks, coffee, etc.)

sounds like a type of infection.read about how a person can safely put red cayenne pepper juice mixed with water in their eyes , one at a time rinsing when it starts to burn enough to scare ya...do over a sink . and you may also use a drop of boric acid with water rinse, then rinse with water, or a drop of baking soda with water rinse.then water...the pepper can't damage the tissue of your eyes.

Get a second opinion from another doctor.
