I care about climate change because of the effects rising sea levels will have on the pacific islands. I'm a Samoan and for many of us Pacific islanders rising sea levels will be devastating and in some cases wipe out whole cultures. Who on earth are you? This new campaign is again just another ambulance at the bottom of the cliff I'm sorry to tell you. Bringing together who? All you socialite middle class guilt mongers who are driven by your own personal guilt rather then actually wanting to solve the issue. Go back to your lattes, shopping malls and come back when you're ready to do something! You should start by looking after your own ethnic people before saving the world! What am I doing. We cycle and walk everywhere and only use the vehicle (1 vehicle) as a last resort. We recycle everything we can, we grow our own veges and we don't shop at or support multinational franchises! What the heck is a website going to do to stop the water from destroying my mothers village?

I like the thinking and reasoning.....the 1st answer from Steph says you are just complaining,,,and i think it is a justified complaint as i betchya she is a little immature know all piece of human garbage jumpimg on the band wagon. We as individuals can do nix against multi national corps and governments. Russia still dumps nuclear waste in international waters and Steph thinks you fart too much.
We are programmed in the western world by greed and need re education of values to a point of beed not greed..
Science noe genetically modifies food without our knowledge and will take 3 or 4 generations for us to grow 2 heads.
Lets get realistic...power and greed by companies and governments are the problem....Steph just pull ya head in...Kate is being used as a tool by a Government funded group that reall promotes hype to exist......just like Greenpeace,,,,if you dont think so then check out the boats and helicopters the greenis own and where did the money come from...........big cry baby sooks like u steph ....and they are enjoying a great like on the back of the gullible that contribute to their Bukkshyt .

I can understand your frustration but really, I think you should turn your anger in another direction. I think that everyone doing ANYTHING and showing they support in this issue is doing a good thing. After all, there are still some people who says they aren't prepared to do anything to help people like you. They don't care at all. They even try to spread disinformation campaigns that global warming isn't true.

Of course, a lot of people could do more but if only the "perfect" citizen could speak up, then there is a very big risk that nobody dares to say anything. After all, who's absolutely perfect? There will always be things we could do better, and there will always be people telling us about that. The important thing is that everyone contributes with what they can in order to get enough of the worlds attention. Take care.

Don't worry Kiwi. You are not a complainer. You have done nothing wrong. It is a policy among celebrities that if they put their name on a charitable project that their own lifestyles are not put to question.

There is no doubt that a celebrity would be stupid not to increase her/his carbon footprint when money starts to roll in. Just imagine having money and just imagine all the things you'd like to do in life but have never had the opportunity to do because of lack of money.

The fact is, if you are even going to be even marginally as successful as a celebrity, you would need to increase your carbon footprint because you will need to use technology like computers, fax machines, equipment, and driving from place to place (if you are a band, touring) to meet with agents or get to movie lots, have an appropriate car to deal with weather conditions or to carry equipment (if you are a musician) like an SUV, as well as all the energy being used by press agents, photographers, lawyer, accountants, and a host of other people who also need to drive up their carbon footprints (no, they cannot all share one car.)

If you want to start a business, same thing, you got to increase your carbon footprint. You want to get somewhere, you got to increase your carbon footprint.

I'm sorry to say, you Samoans aren't going to get anywhere limiting the potential and the capabilities of your life the way you do. But this is what people who have already made it by increasing their carbon footprints are telling you to do. They are taking away your right to what they got. That way you will always worship Cate Blanchett as someone special.

And don't be fooled to think she isn't buying a larger house somewhere with a larger temperature controlled swimming pool.

People have to learn to be the celebrity of their own life. They should believe that they deserve what the same level of living and comfort as those who are at the top. That is how our society works. Otherwise, we will return to the Feudal Era of serfs worshiping celebrity royalty (and their politician allies) as their gods who have a god given right to live better lives then we do.

The IPCC predicts that the oceans over the next 100 years will rise a MAXIMUM of 30 inches. Will that destroy your village?

If enough people come together a difference can be made. It sounds like all you really want to do is complain. At least she is using her celebrity to get people involved rather than making insults for no reason.

Why worry? Global warming is something made up so politicians can raise taxes.

Your village is no worse today than it was 65 years ago.

Live your life, relax and have fun. You will never see any difference.
