I completely believe that people can live and have a job without a college degree. The only problem is the type of work you will be able to obtain and will it pay enough for you to pay your bills. I have know many people with a college degree who are still living paycheck to pay check. A college degree is not a guarantee that you will be a successful business person. As far as your second question, I think that retail/service is a logical choice. I currently work for Home Depot. I am working towards my degree, but do not actually have one. I work in the bookkeeping area and make pretty good money. Many people who I work with do not have an college education. There are many people who are smart and successful, who have never been to college. My advice, is to find a job that can pay your bills while you seek a job or field that interest you. Just remember, it is never too late to go back to school.

People with intelligence, drive and great communication skills can succeed at college, but can also be successful outside of college as well.

Many talented people achieve success without a college degree. Many of the people who made Halo, one of the most successful computer games series, were high school drop outs. This would be true of many other computer game companies.

Often in new, creative or growth industries you will find many people working without college degrees.

However as the sector matures or as they try to get ahead in their work, a lack of a degree will hold you back.

Some areas that don't need degrees are sales (some people can sell and some people can't, a good salesperson can earn more than a college graduate, no problem.

Being able to start your own business at some point will help you earn a lot of money too.

I would say, go to college. If you have what it takes to succeed without a degree you will succeed with one too, and it will be easier.

The reason why most people without college degrees don't do as well as people without college degrees is because those people were not smart enough to get into college.

Don't limit yourself or believe that you have to done a particular thing to succeed.

Afterall how much money to liberal arts majors earn, in the only job they are qualified to do...flipping burgers at the Big M.

I know of a lot of people who have never finished college (and in one case dropped out of High school after his sophomore year). those people are ALL famous people. Being an Entrepreneur can in the long run net you more money then any college degree. ie..it does not matter what you study/graduate in it bears little on how you make money.

A college diploma should be in something you want to pursue in life (ie..it's a waste of money otherwise)...more and more companies are hiring people w/ experience over people w/ degrees.

For me personally I do not have a college degree (but a lot of college hours), and I am a network security analyst. I stay ahead of the curve (knowledge wise) something you can never do in college (in an environment such as this) and make enough money so that I dont go into debt and that I dont live paycheck to paycheck. You can do it too..

College is just a fast-track to hopefully a successful career. As others have said, it is no guarantee. About 90 percent of the careers out there can be learned on the job. Do not equate the level of education with intelligence! There are many, many people who hold a college degree bought by mommy and daddy, that I would not want to watch my houseplants.

definite, a college degree is important. besides the fact that, it is no longer the main mandatory situation interior the international. My husband and that i are 20. We weren't careful adequate and we had a daughter while we've been 18. i replaced right into a freshman in college and he replaced right into a senior in intense college. He complete intense college and that i took a pair quarters off to supply delivery, get better, and comply with being a clean mom. For the 1st year of our daughter's existence my husband worked 2 jobs (We have been given married while the toddler replaced into 6 weeks old) He replaced into many times long previous from 8am till evening or 1am and he'd arise interior the morning and do it as quickly as greater. He replaced into fortunate to land a general activity with general hours setting up stoneworks. He have been given laid off at present and is working a very sucky activity in revenues. I went returned to college interior the wintry climate of '09 and that i've got been busting my butt considering then. it is tense to handle a toddler, college, and a enjoyed ones, yet we carry directly to the wish that sooner or later i pass to have a intense paying profession and my husband can take a wreck. we don't think of it is mandatory for us the two to have college education so he might on no account decide for his. He does not truly care approximately it like I do as long as we are financially good. Your husband might experience the comparable way. sometimes the only situation you're able to do is enable him artwork to help you adult men on a similar time as you artwork tense to get a level so which you will help the kin greater advantageous. After that possibly he would be greater involved in getting a level because of the fact he won't experience that his kin's welfare is falling so heavily on his shoulders. i be attentive to that's how my husband feels. He does not decide for to waste his time at school while he must be out incomes earnings to help us. don't be too tense on him :)
