That's what Christianity is based on...the teachings of Jesus Christ.

First of all , some of the teachings of Christ and the original 12 Apostles are contradictory . Sometimes only out of ignorance . For example The story was told about Jesus ( true or not ) that he provided more wine to a group of drunken people . We now know that this is contrary to taking care of ones health .
Second , The original 'teachings' were edited by leaders during the formation of the original Catholic Catechism . For example the story of how a young Jesus blinded another child for intrupting his conversation with the Rabbis was ommited from the New Testament .
There are several very small groups which do try to follow the teachings . But an examination of the New testament provides very few valid guideposts to follow . The greatest amount being taken from the "Sermon on the Mount" .
Later addition to post : A lee ,
You may be right that Islam accepts Jesus as a prophet but you are wrong about Islam in other respects . First of all , an angel interceeded in giving the demands of Allah to Muhammed .Granted that Muslims are supposed to pray directly to Allah .Second , the teachings of this 'sacred book' ( and the leadership of Muhammed ) are in much contradiction to the teachings of Jesus . The claim being that the laws relayed by the angel were better , more up to date , and the final word as compared to the teachings of Jesus .
Of course every new religion from Christianity to Mormanism to Scientolgy says this . And of course those three along with Islam all were given the 'Sacred Word ' from a creature ( angel , space traveller etc. ) from the heavens - LOL

Well, no, not really.

The early Church of Jerusalem, whose leaders were James and Peter (who called themselves Nazarenes) had beliefs indistinguishable from the Pharisees, except that they believed in the resurrection of Jesus, and that Jesus was the promised Messiah - but the Messiah in Jewish terms - a HUMAN leader/teacher. They did not believe that Jesus was a divine person but that he had been brought back to life through a miracle of God, and would SOON return to finish his mission of overthrowing the Romans and restoring the Jewish monarchy, re-establishing the Temple, etc..

They were Jews - and it would have been blasphemy to say that any human was God.

One of the best places to learn about the earliest church is in the writing of Epiphanius. His treatise on "Heresies" has (biased) information about the Ebionites, who were the immediate successors of the original church which had been led by James and Peter, and the authentic successors of the disciples and followers of Jesus. The Ebionites were the same group that had earlier been called The Nazarenes.

It was Paul who preached that Jesus had started a new religion; it was Paul who added in parts of the Pagan mystery religions into Judaism (the atoning death of a divine being - the Sacrificial God-man, the Sacred King); it was Paul who taught that belief in this sacrificial death formed the only path to salvation, it was Paul who said the Jesus had abrogated the Torah..

The Nazarene Church broke with Paul and disowned him.

Anyway, see if you can find stuff on the Ebionites.

True Christianity does. A lot of today's flavor of Christianity has become so much like the world that the disciples wouldn't even recognize it as Christianity. There are churches today that hardly even mention the name of Jesus. They are so caught up in the 'blessings of God' and what's in it for me that they look more like an Amway presentation. Real Christians try very diligently to observe what Jesus taught us- to love one another, forgive those who trespass against us, and share the good news of the gospel with all the world.

No. All the major groups of Christianity such as the Catholics, Protestants and the Greek Orthodox have divided the spiritual body of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST and this is their grave error. And this disunity of the body is their de-christianized status even today when the UNITY OF THE CHURCHES is unwelcomed. Thus, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST said Those who love their neighbors have overcome the world. Likewise, how could these three major Christian groups, leading Christianity, are churches of LOVE if their bond of love and peace for their Unity are absent. Similarly, the splintered groups of Christianity are disunited thus, without love and so are loveless and so are the exact opposite of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST- an abomination to THE LORD. THANK GOD; FEAR GOD; PRAISE GOD; GLORIFY GOD; HONOR GOD; LOVE GOD AND WORSHIP GOD

Jesus warned of false Christianity that would soon arise after the death of his apostles: Matt. 7: 21. He explained that TRUE Christians can be identified by the fruitage they produce.

The reason why there are so many religions today is because of human nature. God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and in Truth. This is the mark of a true Christianity. God sends His Spirit to his people to show them the way, the truth, and the life. Those who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to Him.

Pretty much.

Acts 2:42
And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
