He did say that it just means a break and just needs time to think, but with everything going on Im afraid its going to be a break up.

We just talked about it and we decided its not going to be a break, its just going to be a breather where we dont talk for a couple days. and after that we are going to be fine.

It's a breakup with a safety net....It's almost never used by both people.

It's definetly a safety net. People use it to sample new territory and when that doesn't work out they come back. I think people define breaks differently and it would depend on what you and your significant other considered it to be. If I was on a break I would take it to mean no fooling around with other people and just take some time apart. Some people think it's ok to do whatever they want during a break. If someone had sex with someone else while we were on a break I wouldn't go back with them/

A break to me means, a time apart from each other. If that time apart last longer than a full week and no hear from, I would end it. B/c the other person might just be with another woman/man besides you. This has happened to me before with someone that I cared about, but I learned not to tolerate any foolishness from immature men who were not ready to be in a serious relationship.

It depends what kind of break it is, a long break then it's probably a break up. If it's just a few days then they probably really do need a break. People get on each other's nerves, as much as they like that person, and they can need some space occasionally.

I'm taking a break from my relationship with my bf right now, and I'm not at all thinking about breaking up with him. I'm just stressed and I need some time to myself just to think alone about things... So I would not worry unless he actually says he wants to break up.

It's usually a break-up. But, me and my fiance took a break, and we're now together again. Actually we took 2. One was only 10 days, and then another for a month. (10 days didnt really do much) but it worked! ~Ricky~

Usually it is becaue they are dissatisfied with how the relationship is going, or they miss being single. Either way, I would not sit around and wait.

It is an excuse to see other options while still keeping the other person close incase you change your mind or don't like the options available to you.
