this isn't even a close one. Abort it! Why make it suffer? If it's got a mom that smokes AND drinks, it's probably not going to be too smart anyway, so let it avoid the misery.

a dilemma about abortion? There should not be. This woman you are referring too is irresponsible in many ways.
1- because she chooses to destroy her body with drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, etc. that does not mean she must destroy her child as well.
2- yes, the child could have problems - however they can help those problems today- my adopted daughter was born to a mom who was a drug addict- SHE IS PERFECT.
3- abortion is selfish and your question shows how much.
4- who has the right to give or take a life? GOD, not a woman.
5- yes a woman does have a choice, but remember there are good and bad choices. Smoking and drinking to stay high or having a baby? What do you think is a the best choice?

Rather her have the baby. There are going to be side affects, but not as major as you are saying. A child should not be killed because a mother is irresponsible. Would you kill a child, if the mother was forcing it to smoke and drink at the age of like 1?

She should stop,.. but I know many that dont!!
Yet,..I believe abortion is murder!! There is a heartbeat VERY early in pregnancy! If the baby is born with defects,.. it will have an awesome God that will see it through life better than any parent alone!!

A woman giving birth should be considered a gift from the gods. If a woman truely wants to have a baby, she should give up all her vices, to ensure a healthy happy baby. I truely beleive that any woman who considers abortion should think of all the women in this world who can't have children, and who want them.

I read this question numerous times backwards and forwards. There is no dilemma here. The only issue is the woman, not the developing fetus/embryo/newborn. Number one, my woman would certainly not be a smoker and a heavy drinker. She certainly would know better than to smoke and drink, especially if she plans to have a baby. I would never marry such a woman who would defile herself like that; not under my watch. I would expect her to have better sense than this. If this was the way she would treat her body, then my woman would be very unhappy because I would not want a baby because the baby would turn out just as unhealthy as his or her mother.
Why should an innocent newborn suffer because of its mother’s bad habits? Does that make sense? Should a child die for something he or she did not commit? Should an innocent person be placed in prison for a crime they did not commit? No. Why? Because they did not commit the crime and therefore should not be treated as a criminal.
Similarly, an innocent newborn should not have to suffer (or be killed) just because mom has bad habits. Just as that criminal who really committed the crime should be jailed instead of the innocent person, the woman should be held fully accountable for her lack of sound judgment for smoking and drinking. Enough about my views. Let’s see what Jehovah God views abortion as a whole. I think that His view would be understood vividly. Just before that, what exactly is abortion?
Abortion is the expulsion of an embryo or a fetus that is not normally able to live outside the womb. Spontaneous abortion or miscarriage may result from human imperfection or from an accident. Deliberately induced abortion (as would be the case here) simply to avoid the birth of an unwanted child is the willful taking of human life.
How should the Source of human life affect our view of this matter?
Job 33:4: “God’s own spirit made me, And the Almighty’s own breath proceeded to bring me to life.”
Acts 17:28: “For by him we have life and move and exist.”
Psalm 36:9: “With you [Jehovah God] is the source of life.”
Romans 14:12: “Each of us will render an account for himself to God.”
Jehovah gave us life. He gave us the very air that we breathe. Without Jehovah, we do not exist. It is that simple. No man on earth can differ with that. We exist because of Jehovah, not man, not evolution nor anything else.
Does Jehovah view the life of a child as precious even during the very early stages of development after conception?
Psalm 139:13-16: “You [Jehovah] kept me screened off in the belly of my mother…Your eyes saw even the embryo of me, and in your book all its parts were down in writing.” Yes, as if Jehovah God literally wrote down each process. If Jehovah considers an embryo as a life, how much more so should we.
Why does Jehovah God have a say in what takes place in our very lives?
Revelation 4:11: “You are worthy, Jehovah, even our God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power, because you created all things, and because of your will they existed and were created.” Yes, Jehovah God is the Source of Life and he also created us. Were we made to direct our own steps through our life?
Jeremiah 10:23: “I well know, O Jehovah, that to earthling man his way does not belong. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step.”
Jeremiah 17:9: “The heart is more treacherous than anything else and is desperate. Who can know it?” We were not made to live independently from God. We need Jehovah God to guide our steps so that we do not fall so deep that we cannot get out of it.
How serious is the willful taking of a human life for a reason not authorized by God?
Genesis 9:6: “Anyone shedding man’s blood, by man will his own blood be shed, for in God’s image he made man.”
1 John 3:15: “No manslayer has everlasting life remaining in him.”
Exodus 20:13 and Deuteronomy 5:17: “You must not murder.” Notice that verse said “must not,” not should not. Should does not mean certainty. “Should” just suggests something or recommends us to do something. The scripture says “you must not murder.” There is doubt to this simple scripture.
How does the Bible say that we should view the children that we produce?
Psalm 127:3: “Look! Sons are an inheritance from Jehovah; The fruitage of the belly is a reward.”
Isaiah 49:15: “Can a wife forget her suckling so that she should not pity the son of her belly? Even these women can forget, yet I [Jehovah God] myself shall not forget you.”
Just think, the dilemma here is whether or not the woman would be able to live with the decision that she made to abort the fetus. That is the dilemma. Not the smoking and drinking around town. Note: The birth defects are only because of what the mother did to the child, as if she (the mother) did this intentionally. Jehovah God abhors (hates) abortions. Is you thinking in line with Jehovah’s, or is it according to the world’s opinions who think that they have your best interests at heart? Something for you and I to think about.

I smoked and I drank and I partied and then I got pregnant. Went to the Dr. and quit it all. Cold turkey everything. Including everything I knew I was allergic to. Food wise. My kid is 19 now and is the biggest jackass. Did it help? I really don't know... We shall see.

Tie her up and toss her in the highest tower till she comes to her senses.
Worked for this one guy whose daughter disobeyed him...mind you, she didn't want to partake of those pagan rituals, and having faith in Christ was punishable by death back then. Being tossed into a tower was probably a good thing. Even though she ended up dead.
I think I rambled there.

Well I would say abort it. Obvioulsy they don't care about the safety and well being of their child. If they don't care they why go through with the pregnancy. Maybe I am wrong, but that is what I would do if I were in the situation( thankfully I am not)

Abort. It's wrong to bring a baby into a world where it will only suffer constantly. It's being humane to another living being-- the same you would euthanize a dog that was in terrible pain. Anyone who would say let the woman keep the kid...that's inhumane.

I would rather she do as she pleases.
Being pro-choice isn't just about advocating a woman's right to abortion. It's also about advocating her right to CHOICE. Go figure, huh? That's where it gets its name.
