I heard more that as long as you're not cussing and the musiq is clean that it's ok.

and that's why I heard that artists like Musiq Soulchild, Talib Kweli don't cuss in their musiq and make positive music with a message.

and also why Nas though he did make a few songs like the other rappers most of his material had a message and he heardly ever cusses at all same with Freeway.

What are your thougts?

It depends on who you ask. Personally, I do listen to music but only 'clean' music that does not encourage immoral behavior. Some Muslims accept that, others strongly criticize even that. Here is where I get my information on music:

The degree in prohibition in Islam differs.

There are many sayings suggesting the prohibition of music instruments.

Some people say, it is not a clear order!!!
We know, it is made like this to differentiate between those who will follow the black/white clear areas and those who will do the same and go a further step to not do something for the sake of God just because it was suggested not to.

I used to listen to music all the time. So, I was signing when I am walking, going to sleep, going to the bathroom, doing daily work, and while waiting for something.
Now, i don't listen to music. All the singings are replaced with daily prayers now.

Why do some Muslims sing and listen to Music??
Because not everyone is perfect.

It really depends on "you".

As for me, I pick my music VERY carefully; paying attention to the lyrics, musical instruments, and message behind the song.

I usually go through a long period of time without listening, but when I do I'm very careful about it.

As for whether it's halal or haram, then that's a line I can't cross, I'm not a scholar, but what I said above tells where I stand.

Peace.

Spiritual Music was never developed in Arabia. The music they knew like belly dancing was not suitable in holly places and on holly occasions.
Banning music all together is a classic case of throwing the baby out with the Bath water. That is what Islam is---fanatic rigidity. Will not last another century.

I don't know but I listen to all music ... it's kinda hard to find ''clean'' music nowadays.

Does it not strike you as a little sad that any religion would seek to dispense with aspects of culture that make our lives more pleasant?
