I am a Christian and I have just started using yahoo answers and noticed many people here are Atheist. I know you don't believe in god but why? Can some of you possibly email me to explain more? I am interested in trying to see your point of view.

I'm atheist. I don't believe in god because there is no proof, no logical explanation of the existence of god. I became an atheist because as a child I realized that there was no one listening when I prayed. I don't believe in any supernatural creator, nor do I believe in the afterlife. Humans have the most developed minds on our Earth, which gives us the ability to wonder and hope, which is why we created "god".

Because I was born with no belief in God, just like everyone on this forum. I know for a fact that religion is learned and I have been atheist all my life. If you know of a thing called DNA, you would also know that the idea of God is not inscribed in it. This tells us that religion was invented by the human mind.

If you really are curious, I suggest you read a very short book - Letter to a Christian Nation, by Sam Harris. It explains exactly why I left my religious beliefs behind. Harris's eloquent little book is short, to the point and an easy read.
