I intend to start dieting. But not one of those fads. I want it to be filling and tasty because I intend for this to be a staple. I'm hoping it's something cheap because I'm on a budget and I can't afford to waste a whole lot of money on gimmicks. Just a cheap, healthy, simple food please.

if you want to lose 100lbs the easiest and cheapest way. eat cup noodles, it's just 25 cents per cup and 10 cents per pack in kroger/vons/tom thumbs/ralphs/albertsons/walmart. and then with every penny that's left, buy some fruits. and then associate with a lot of liquid and do a lot of workout. try to lose weight first, before try to live healthy. hehe. you will truly shed off the lbs in less than 2 weeks. oh... and don't forget to eat breakfast. there are oatmeals that are only 10/$10. hehehehehehehehe. lose the weight first. hehe.

All fruits and vegetables.

Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%.

Chew each morsel at least 32 times. Do not touch articles of food or the cutlery in between. This will activate ur body to generate strong signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.

Take light exercises and brisk walks (minimum 20 min duration) regularly preferably twice a day.

U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry. It is however to be noted that one cannot change the shape or size of different parts of the body.

the most simple and healthy thing- old fashioned oatmeal which you can make with anything you have in a fridge - milk, water, egg whites, fruit, berries, nuts, dried fruit, honey etc.
get protein from chicken fillet which you can buy for cheap in a bulk and keep in the freezer.
you can always find fruit and veggies - seasonal can be very cheap.
make omelets from egg whites (reg eggs -yolks divided from whites)
whole wheat bread is good for sandwiches with no dressing though
get some fat free yogurts, skim milk, whole grain cereals (Kashi are the best), frozen veggies are ok also, use cooking spray instead of oil, get some nuts and dried fruit for snacks etc.

Remember your calcium. There is some in dark green veggies like brocolli, but I also eat a yogurt every day. It's OK if it's got some fat - you need some fat to absorb some nutrients and your body needs some fat (just not more than 30% of your daily caloric intake!) Or a stick of part-skim string cheese.
And there's always SOME brand of yogurt that's on sale!

I just had some Hearts of Palm it's like a big giant asparagus. Very tender ! It makes a nice addition to your meal .It's very low on calories.It comes in a can.

Frozen veggies are filling(b/c of fiber), healthy, and cheap. Raman noodles are not healthy b/c they have very little nutrition, preservatives and low fiber.

I think broccoli with some "I Can't Believe Its Not Butter" spray on it fits the bill. Cantaloupe does too.
