Guys have trouble with emotions. If he likes you, he's probably way embarrassed that some of his friends will find out or something, and he's expecting YOU to make a move because he's too shy. Shy? Yeah, he might not act shy, but right now he's afraid of facing his feelings because he's terrified of rejection. While it may be easier for him to flirt online, you have to be understanding and realize how hard it must be for him to admit that he likes you- especially in front of other people. He sounds a bit like a coward to me.
So you have three options. You can, A: Make the first move. Make him at ease by flirting and showing him that you are interested in him. This may help him to kind of come out of the closet and start acting more like he likes you.
Or, B: Wait. Talk to him but as no more than a friend. If he likes you, he's going to have to do something about it, and, well, if he doesn't, too bad.
Or, C: A little bit of both. Flirt, but don't be obvious. Act like you like him sometimes and other times be distant and far-away. He'll be s confused and driven to insanity that he'll just HAVE to ask you how you feel about him.

Because he's young and immature. He doesn't want to lose his "cool guy" image at school. Guys don't want to be labeled "gummybear-whipped" Also this crush might be new to him and guy friends love to bust each others balls.

Next time, he compliments :gummybears" tell him he doesn't have to stay in the closet about his love for gummybears. Get a spine!

It's obvious that he likes you, no doubt. As for the school, thing maybe he's shy and doesn't want to be confronted by his friends or being made fun of. But you should ask him out, that way you guys can talk and hold hands in public. And he wouldn't be embarrassed.

because #1. He's only 16. Guys really don't start acting mature until their mid-twenties and even then they have issues. #2. It's easier to react to something you're reading online than in a face-to-face convo at school. Online, you can't hear his voice shaking because you make him nervous. It's easier #3. He shows you he likes you by teasing you and doing all that stuff...it's stupid but it's foolproof. He likes you.

There is only one way to find out, ask him when he is on MySpace. My guess is that he is kind of shy. Just remember that guys are always less mature than girls.

He likes you a lot. What he does at school is typical of boys his age. Boys mature at a slower rate than us girls. I've always had luck dating older guys. At your age, I would recommend only going 1-1 1/2 yrs. older than yourself. A whole 2 yrs. difference at your age is a lot. It's ultimately up to you if you want to flirt back at him. Just remember, on the maturity level, he's behind you. Personally, I couldn't put up with it.

Maybe he doesnt know how to say it. Ask him why he's so different in school. I think you answered your own question when you said that he was been immature. Just ask him about he's way of acting.

its easier to speak online/via text cos he doesnt see your face and woouldnt be embarrassed by what hes saying to you. in school, he only teases you but cant say anyting much cos he's shy!! he feels vulnerable saying normal stuff around you. so he does things like teasing to get your attention. :) he does like you. so pls, do go up and talk to him. dont rely too much on communicating via computers/phones. it takes a lot of fun out of the friendship/rlshp. gl :)

Some boys are still pretty immature compared to girls of sometimes a younger age. Its just one of those things.
Just ignore it all.
