Clean it and then shoot good .22 ammo out of it. Good quality .22 is very clean to shoot. The cheap .99 stuff is very dirty.

Ditto on the cleaning. The model 60 is a fine .22 but it fills up with crud very quickly. Say 150 rounds. Clean it and oil it good. It will shoot fine.

It's hard to guess but I will take a shot here. Are you using regular .22 Long Rifle ammunition? Your Model 60 won't function or feed with reduced power 22's or 22 shorts.....What exact problems are you experiencing? Can you be a little more specific?

I agree, ffailure to keep a model 60 clean is the number one reason that it fails to function properly. .22 cal ammunition is the dirtiest ammo out there. It really fouls a weapon quickly. If you are uncomfortable with stripping the firearm down for a complete cleaning, take it to a gunsmith to be done. I'm not talking about just cleaning the barrel, I mean stripping it down to basics and giving it a complete cleaning. You will be amazed at how much better it works afterwords.

Try cleaning the gun and some different ammo.

Be sure to use High-Velocity, or Hyper-Velocity ammo. Standard velocity .22 LR ammo is sort of iffy about having enough power to cycle a semi-automatic.
