I found my 2002 federal income tax forms in a box but I can't find an record of sending a payment. I have moved a few times since then and I can't find any record of sending in my payment.

Call the IRS directly at 1-800-829-1040. I can't imagine that they would have let 2002 taxes owed linger without contacting you, but since you said that you have moved a few times, it's possible that notices might have never got to you.

chances are if you owed anything you would have found out by now by filing your other returen from 2003-2006 but still call and make sure always 1-800-829-1040

Call the IRS and ask them. They will be glad to tell you if you owe anything. If you would have sent a check, can't you check your bank statements? Better to check asap. The fines only get larger as time passes.
