She said she sent out 32 invites and nobody showed up. Shes done things like this before. What do you think???

I would think that out of 32 invitations she would have got ton 32 responses. Did all 32 people say they could not attend or
did they say yes and no one came? This makes no sense and when a story makes no sense it is a lie. Give your daughter a baby shower and don't invite her. If I was you I would not even let her know you were giving her a shower. If she finds out later say you sent the invitation but, she did not show.

Lindy I really feel sorry for your son and daughter in law.
I do have an idea as you shared your situation on how terrible your daughter in law is over and over again In addition you stated she is coming around now but you still can't drop it. Take notice your answer was the only one that insulted the daughter in law here on this question rather then say that this girls mother in law was not honest. Only a person with no common sense would think that out of 35 people not one would show up.
So again I feel sorry for your son and your daughter in law as
dealing with you has to be a hard ship on there marriage. And if she in fact did attack you then I am sure based on your comments you deserved it after all the son you raised is still with her so that alone says he did not think she was wrong.

So, when did she send the invites? Did she get the right day? If not, She sounds like she's either forgetful or scattered. I'd be letting someone else be doing the inviting! I'd be asking others that she invited if they got the message. Maybe not everyone would have showed up but not a no show out of 32! If it were a tupperware party, I would believe it , but a baby shower, no way that someone wouldn't have come if not most or would at least call.

Did your daughter even know about it?
Was the place prepared for a shower (ample food, refreshments, games)?
Yes, it really does sound fishy as all get-out.
Of course, if she never bothered to drop the invites in the mail,or didn't do it far enough ahead of time to allow for the invites to get delivered (at least a week), or to allow for a week to do some shopping (and Monday was Labor Day).
Yup... this is a good place for a Stick-Up!
Your daughter needs to learn strategies to maintain boundaries with her MIL around. She will be meddled with every which way.

Sounds fishy to me. Out of 32 people, there had to be at least one person. Maybe she just wants the attention. Have you talked to anyone she invited?
