SSRI's, like Zoloft, take at least 4 weeks to take full effect. If you continue to feel this way contact your doctor so that you can get on a dose that is right for you. I had to go from a higher dose to a lower one. The anxiety can be a side effect but again please talk to you doctor because it's something you're going to have to iron out so you don't feel this way. Take a look at www.stresscenter.com
They have a great program and I CANNOT speak highly enough of it. It teaches you how to handle your feelings instead of letting them control you. There are some tests you can take on there to see if the program might work for you. All the best!

Zoloft is an SSRI, and SSRIs, which effectively treat depression and anxiety, can cause anxiety in some people. Talk to your psychiatrist (preferable to a family doctor since you may now possibly be having an adverse reaction to this medication) right away to see whether you should give it more time to see if you build tolerance, cut back on the dose, or try a different medication. If you start having anger or suicidal or homicidal thoughts, you need to get your doctor to get you off of it safely and immediately, even if that means in the hospital. SSRIs - when they are good, they are very, very good, but when they are bad, they are horrid.

You need to give it 6 or 7 weeks to get the full effect of the drug. They might have to boost it up from 50 mg. to 100 mg. It all depends on how you feel.

Just continue to take the way your doctor has prescribed & try not to think about it. Zoloft is one of the best antidepressants out there.

You are still the old you right now.

Your dose of Zoloft is a very small one, and unlikely to have strong effect.
Were you anxious, nervous and upset before taking the med?

I recall being very nervous ABOUT taking any med. Not so much that the med made me nervous.

Do keep a notebook on the changes you notice as you begin a medication. Your Dr. will want to know.

I experienced the same side effects with Zoloft. The anxiety, butterflies in the stomach, agitation. Usually as your body adjusts to the drug the side effects will diminish or disappear. Hang in there, it's only been a week. If it's absolutely unbearable call your doctor.

My daughter just got put on Zoloft. Her doctor told her it would take 4-6 weeks to get the full effect. She was on it before & it worked great for her. Stick with it. Good luck!!

Give it time to work (about 2 weeks) if it really is tough to hang in there for the 2 week period then call your doctor and they can prescribe something to help you take the edge off.

Very possible. Talk to your doctor about lowering the dose or swtiching it. Don't get discouraged. It can often take months to find the right pill combo to work with your body.

probably hasn't started working yet. takes a few weeks to sort itself out.

stick with it for a month or so and see how you feel then.
