On September 1, 1842, Joseph Smith said, “…for to this day has the God of my fathers delivered me out of them all, and will deliver me from henceforth; for behold, and lo, I shall triumph over all my enemies, for the Lord God hath spoken it.” (Doctrine and Covenants, 127:2). The last phrase “for the Lord God hath spoken it,” indicates that this is prophecy. Here, Smith has prophesied that God would allow him to “triumph” over all his enemies. Less than two years later, these same enemies stormed the Carthage, Illinois jail where Smith was imprisoned and shot him dead. Smith tried to fight back, shooting 3 of his assailants and killing 2 with a pistol smuggled in to him, but his “enemies” triumphed.

This is a false prophecy.

Is one false prophecy enough?

Joseph Smith was also interested in the second coming of Jesus Christ. So much so, that he tried to peg Christ’s return to a particular year – 1891. Smith said, “It is the will of the Lord that those who went to Zion, with a determination to lay down their lives, if necessary, should be ordained to the ministry, and go forth to prune the vineyard for the last time, or the coming of the Lord, which was night – even fifty-six years, should wind up the scene.” (The History of the Church, vol II, page 182). Zion here refers to Jackson County, Missouri – not to Israel. Given the context in which this was said, the fifty-six year time frame would place the return of Jesus on or before February 14, 1891. Many Mormon periodicals demonstrated that zealous Mormons were anxiously awaiting the fulfillment of that prophecy. February 14, 1891 came and went with no second coming. It was truly a disappointing Valentine’s Day for many faithful Mormons. Strike three on Smith. Strike TWO

It takes only one false prophesy to make a false prophet according to God's Word. Joe Smith was a false prophet.

Some Jews during Christ's time falsely thought that Jesus would save them from their Roman oppressors and rule on earth as a king. They were wrong. Christ died at their hands, yet he will still triumph over all his enemies, just not the way they thought and not at the time they thought. This is the same with Joseph Smith.

As for the other one, See volume 2, page 182 of the History of The Church. Joseph added that the voice of the Lord told him the following: "'My son, if thou liveth until thou art eighty-five years of age, thou shalt see the face of the Son of Man,' I was left to draw my own conclusions concerning this; and I took liberty to conclude that if I did live to that time, He would make his appearance, But I do not say whether He will make his appearance or I shall go where He is." See History of the Church, Volume 5, page 336.

Yes you are right about that he was killed by his enemies, but here is something for you to think about. If you had some enemies and they were after you, and you were locked up and they found out where you were, your locked in a jail sell there wouldn't be a whole lot you could do would there? also Joseph Smith was Tared and feathered how many times by angry mobs. (something that could kill someone) and he lived and never backed down from what he believed in. Everyone dies sometime at least he died fighting for what he knew was right.

Deuteronomy 18:20
"But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.
21 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?
22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him."

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
(New Testament | Matthew 7:3 - 4)

14 And in them (people like you) is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

(New Testament | Matthew 13:14)

When you learn what is prophecy and what is not a prophecy, may be then we can talk more.

The test of a false prophet found in Deuteronomy doesn't apply to the LDS prophets. Simply because they don't or can't trust the Bible. It really doesn't matter to them how many false prophesies he had because they KNOW, by the "burning in their bosom" that Joseph was a prophet. So anything the Bible says doesn't apply to him. Actually, anything any LDS prophet says trumps the Bible.
