The part on the bottom that is just behind your toes. It's between the toes and the raised "arch area. Usually a footprint shows your heel and the ball prints.

ok, so if you look at the bottom of your foot, you see where your toes meet your foot? thats the ball. and if you stand on your toes, you are actually standing more on the balls of your feet.
