I'm moving into an apt with 3 other friends next week and I'm trying to look into internet services. My friends and I don't really watch cable so we probably won't get comcast. We're thinking about getting at&t but we don't know why it costs so much ($44.99/month) for a pro package with the no-voice line. I saw in the beginning of the website that it only costs about $24.99/month for that package, unless that was the price with a voice line. Hmm, can somebody explain this to me? haha. Thanks for your time. =D

AT&T has a special deal going on .....DSL for only 10 dollars, but its like pulling teeth.....ATT try to keep it a secret....it was part of a lawsuit settlement from the US govt....go on there website, or better yet call them and insist on this special offer....

yes, the 44.99 is for dsl direct (no voice) the 24.99 is for the pro with a tel line. you can get a basic phone line w/ unlimited local calling in most areas for $15-20/mo (no features) so it would be about the same if you did the phone & dsl or the dsl direct. you can go to att.com to place an order for a new phone line with internet, you can get your connection fee waived if you order online, and a free dsl modem w/wireless router after rebate. or u can call 1877uaskatt to order or for any questions. if you decide to go with att, use referral code mp4341

it depends on budget. I went with fiber for $65 a month which is 10megabit up and down. cable companies are monopolies but they are my second choice. generally $50 for internet alone with 6mbit up 1mbit down. dsl is usually the cheapest but also the most likely to go down. you could get a land line which is no long distance lifeline only for about $10 a month and then put on at&t yahoo dsl at some promo price http://promo.yahoo.com/att/ but that ususally expires after 6 months or so and jumps up another $20 a month so ask when you are getting it how long the price is good for

I have AT&T DSL. It's 24.99 for the Pro. A landline would be around an additional $20 or so.

First off all u should ask Comcast if you could get just Internet without cable or phone service...most cable providers are able to do that.
