Every night I go to sleep then I wake up with this terrible toothache. It keeps me up all night but by the morning it just disappears.

I have a dentist appointment but not for a few days as I'm not staying at home right now.

Does anyone know:
- What it is?
- Why it's happening?
- How to ease the pain?

It's one of the most painful things I've ever experienced (you know them toothaches) so can anyone help me with this?

Hi, according to your symptoms i' say you have a pulpitis or inflammation of the dental pulp, it can be caused by cavities (most of the times it is) but also for teeth grinding known as bruxsism , this could be your case since you only feel pain at nights, but also could be because your head is in a lower position and it is a quiet moment of the day and your mind is only thinking of it.
how to ease the pain, well i recommend you Ibuprofen (like Advil) 600 every 8 hrs for no more than 3 days. But u must go to see your dentist ASAP.

Hope I've helped you,
bye

Hey those night time aches are unbearable.I have had several experiences and if pain killers do not do the trick try pressure point that blocks the related nerve by pressing firmly on the jaw.

If that fails try a heat pack or get the room really warm it is sometimes the cool night air. The last tip is to prop yourself up on pillows when you go to sleep particularly helpful with absess' as it appears the blood flow increase preassure on the nerve which is why it gets you at night.
Cheers and good luck

Prayers and meditations are always good ways to avert evil forces. As is cleansing yourself and the area in question. Purifying incense should also be used as well as a white candle in the western most portion of the room. A bit of positive affirmation would also go a long way to give you the confidence to ward off whatever this my be that is bothering you.( Like my god is with me and this presence cannot harm me. I am strong in my faith NOTHING can harm me!) If after all of this is done you still have issues with shaking it would be time to consult a doctor. Bright Blessings to you in this time of your life. ~M~

It could be that your grinding your teeth or clenching them in your sleep i do this too my dentist gave me a gum guard to wear ,he take a mould of teeth them sends it away to get made . And then you wear it for a week or so to stop the pain only while your sleeping when pain stops you can stop using it if you feel it coming back start using it again sort of trains your jaw muscles!!!

This is a classic symptom of a tooth that has a dying nerve. Root canal will be needed or extraction to end the pain.

it could be from your toothbrush,or maybe you grind or bang your teeth at night, but toothaches can come and go,try some Advil right before bed,and be sure to stay away from things like ice water or anything that could irritate it and make it worse or more sensitive.
