He's not. There is only one Jesus, one Savior, one Christ.

Mormon's believe that Christ is the Creator of this Earth, the Jehovah of the Old Testament, and that He came in the meridian of time and suffered the sins of all in the Garden of Gethsemane, and then suffered, bled, and died on the cross at calvary. Then that on the Third day following, He rose again, as a resurrected being.

Mormons also believe that He taught on the American continent to the people here.

The Mormon Jesus is the same as the Bible Jesus. There is only one Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, our Savior, and our God.

Do all Bible believers in the Christian world have exactly the same beliefs about Jesus? No, they do not. So, who decides what the Bible Jesus was really like? Are Mormons less authorized to read the Bible and decide what Jesus was like than other Bible readers? So many people seem to feel that they are somehow privileged to have the one and only true understanding of the nature of Jesus. And anyone who disagrees with them must "obviously" be worshiping some false Jesus.

We all like to think we are right, and the traditions of our fathers are the correct ones. But let us be a little humble here. If all you've got is the way you were taught to understand the Bible, you've got nothing more than the next Bible reader. You aren't more intelligent, more spiritual, more blessed than the next guy. You aren't even more humble if you go around bashing others for what they believe the Bible says about Jesus.

And many of the Mormon critics don't have a clue about what the Mormons truly believe.

I'll venture on this one.

In essence they are the same because we both believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It is more in the particulars that the two religions differ.

Christianity believes in the Trinity, which states that the Godhead; God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost are three manifestations of the same being. Mormons do not believe in the Trinity, but believe that God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost are different.

Christianity also believes that when Jesus ascended into heaven, the heavens were closed and he will not reappear until His Second Coming. Mormons, on the other hand, believe Jesus Christ has appeared already to many people, including people on the American continent and elsewhere. They also believe Christ has visited people more recently, including Joseph Smith, the founder of the Mormon religion.

Those are a few differences, there are more I'm sure, but in essence we also believe in the same Jesus as well. We both believe he died on the cross and suffered for our sins. We also believe he was resurrected and did many miracles. His birth was miraculous and prophesied by prophets for generations before he actually came.

When Mormons talk about Jesus they talk about the Jesus in the Bible, but they also talk about a Jesus that did many more things than just in the Bible. As John puts it: if all the things that Jesus did could be written, the earth would not be able to contain all those books (paraphrased: check out the last few verses in John)

"Follows Jesus" makes some points, but little doctrine of the Mormon faith. The book "Mormon Doctrine" and other books by leaders in the Mormon faith are not doctrinal. As a Mormon, here is my thoughts: My Jesus: My Savior, my God, my Teacher, the Creator, the Great Mediator, the Son of God (I do not believe he is God the Father, which varies from many, not all, Christian faiths - I believe the Bible to be the Word of God and true when God talks about sending his Son to save the world, and when God spoke at Christ's baptism, saying he was pleased with His Son, He meant it). I believe Christ took upon him all our sins through the atonement, in Gethsemane AND on the cross. He was born of a virgin, Mary, immaculately (and there was no intercourse as some people think we believe). Jesus lived a perfect life, was a perfect example and tought us the path to salvation. If we believe/have faith in Jesus we can be saved through His grace. I could go on, but I think this sums up mine and most Mormon's beliefs. Other Christians: Jesus is God, the Creator, the Savior, we are saved by His grace...Nearly all the same, other than issues revolving around the trinity, a 4th century doctrine (nothing wrong with that, just saying one can interpret the Bible either way and some have chosen to follow the interpretation made by the counsel of nicea). I believe we, Mormons, believe that Christ is the center piece and foundation of our faith and religion; all is built upon Christ. And so do other faiths. Therefore, we must all find our own faith, through honest study, searching and prayer. If we do so honestly, with a pure heart, can anyone really questions that individuals beliefs? All religion is based on faith (and can't be proved by facts or evidence). We must therefore have respect for those of any faith.

No faith interprets Jesus Christ EXACTLY the same way. There are at the very least, minor differences between the way that different groups interpret Christ.

We all (Mormons included) believe that Jesus Christ was the Son of God, savior of the world, born of Mary in Bethlehem, raised by Joseph, learned carpentry and was raised in Nazareth. He suffered for our sins in Gethsemane, that we might overcome sin, and died on the cross, that we will overcome death and be resurrected.

When people ask me why I believe in a different Jesus, I describe him (as I did above) and ask them which one they believe in.

Differences come in technicalities. Keep in mind, many Christian churches don't like Mormons, therefore they try to magnify these and say that we're not Christian. I suspect you'll have many such answers on this post.

You ask how the "Mormon Jesus" is different from the "Bible Jesus". There are some things that Mormons believe about Christ (through other scripture or Modern revelation) that the Bible either doesn't discuss or isn't real clear on. So "mainstream Christians" criticize Mormons for their some of their beliefs because the Bible isn't expressly clear on it, and because of that they say Mormons are wrong.

The clearest example of this is Christ coming to the Americas. "Christians" will claim that Christ was referring to something else and that "Their Christ never visited the Americas" (never mind that the Bible never says that he won't, can't, wouldn't, or couldn't).

Through other scripture (namely the Book of Abraham) Mormons learn that God had billions of children (all of us are some of those). The eldest was Jesus Christ. Another was Lucifer who became Satan because of rebelion. So, they say "My Jesus isn't Satan's Brother". Again, never in the Bible does it say "Jesus and Satan were never spirit brothers". However, they make that assumption, because it rubs them wrong and they think it's good ammunition against Mormons.

The other big one is the Trinity. Mormons believe that the Godhead is one in purpose and perfectly united. It's made of God, the father. His son, Christ, and the Holy Ghost, which has no body.

Many Christians believe in this all in one Trinity idea (that was voted on at the Nicaean council by Catholics...at best, pagans , at the worst) yet stick to it like Glue. Personally (of course I'm bias) I think the Mormon definition makes a LOT more sense. Why would we bother referring to them differently if they were just one to begin with? Why would I call myself tall and short, and Larry, and Bob, and the father, and the son, and the holy ghost. I wouldn't show up to a party and say "Bob is here, and Larry is here, And the father is here, and the son is here....." when I was just talking about me. However, at Christ's baptism it says Christ was in water, God spoke from the heavens, and the spirit appeared in the form of a Dove.

Anyway, so they tend to define a more nebulous Christ, and Mormons define a more definable Christ.

I do think it's funny how many "Christians" go around telling people (and sometimes Mormons) what Mormons do and do not believe when it comes to Christ.

Mormons are definitely Christians. Anyone who says they aren't is just on a smear campaign.

Maybe a better question would be "In what ways are the Momons' beliefs of Jesus different from traditional Christianity's." We believe the Bible, study and teach from it. But we have some different interpretations.
We do believe that Jesus is the Son of God, seperate from the Father. He is the brother of us all, including Satan.

I hope that helps

The Mormon Jesus and The Bible Jesus are one in the same. The mainstream Christians are the one who divide the two. We believe that Jesus Ascended to heaven, he came over to America and taught the "other sheep" over hear.

I find no difference at all. There are numerous passages in the Bible that support the same Jesus as expressed by the Mormons.

Mormons believe Jesus is the physical son of God. This may seem the same but it is not. They believe God came down in the flesh and had sex with Mary and Jesus was conceived. They also do not believe He is part of the trinity. They believe He is a separate God. They also believe that God created Jesus not that Jesus is God and has always existed. They also believe that Christ began to pay for our sins in the garden of Gethsemane.

Christians believe that Jesus was conceived of the Holy Ghost. Not thru sex but through a miracle. Christians believe Jesus is part of the trinity. He is God. Christians believe Jesus was not created as He is God He could not have created Himself. We also believe He paid the price for our sins on the cross and not before.

Long and short of it is the mormon Jesus is not the Jesus of the Bible. With all their beliefs it is questionable whether mormons are Christians at all. For more info follow this link.

Just one final addition. While the mormons claim to be Christians just like every other Christian the simple fact is that they cannot support their beliefs without additional book. Book that even the author admits have flaws. Books written by a so-called prophet who's prophecies have often failed. And people who believe God was once a man and only became God when another god elevated him. Their beliefs are not Biblical.

Mormon leaders have taught that Jesus’ incarnation was the result of a physical relationship between God the Father and Mary. They believe Jesus is a God, but that any human can also become a god. The Mormon church views Jesus and Satan as spirit brothers and sons of God. God put forth His plan of salvation for the world, and Satan proposed his own plan. Jesus accepted the Father's plan and offered to implement it as the Savior. The Father chose Jesus, and the spirit of Jesus was given a body through the virgin Mary.
