yesterday I noticed weird whitness that looked sorta like dead skin on the inside of my lips. Then today (the first day of school) it was horrible. Theres a lot of this 'dead skin' and my lips hurt...like sting. especially on all the corners. It hurts to talk and eat. if anything like salad dressing or any fruit drips on them it stings really bad!! i cant stand it. I've ben using tons and tons of vasaline. but its not helping to much. i feel like my lips are going to rip open if i open my mouth to wide. it hurts so bad. What can i do to get rid of this and sooth the pain??

Seriously seek actual MD advice. I read Herpes, yeast infection, bacterial... they are all bad and you should call immediately. Also, do not forget to avoid kissing anymore people, becasue you may be spreading that stuff.

I have had the same problem too, just not as bad! Are your lips severely chapped? When I lived in COLD Sweden, my lips would get so chapped that it felt like they were going to rip open and I couldn't really speak without it hurting. Also, the corners of my lips hurt the worst. It might be a lip ulcer (if there is such thing, I know you can get them on your gums and they sting! They go away on their own though, so if you have one on your lips it should go away too). It sounds like you just have very very severely chapped lips though...
Try using blistex! Have you heard of it? I believe you can buy it at walmart. That has always helped me A LOT. It's wonderful. If you get some, don't get the one that looks like a regular chapstick, get the tube thats white with a white gel in it, that you push out onto your lips. That works the best. The chapsticks work too though. I'd say blistex is the best thing ever for damaged lips. Also, try to stay away from acidic foods/liquids, like certain salad dressings and fruits.. haha :)
Good luck! I hope you feel better! If you need any additional help, please email me.. My mom is a nurse and would probably be able to help you. Shes just not home right now. Grr.

It sounds like you are having an allergic reaction to something. Have you by any chance eaten mangoes lately? I know that sounds funny, but many people have a reaction to them.
Unfortunately, you will probably just have to wait until the raw areas heal. There are numbing agents you can buy, like Anbesol, but they don't always work that well for large, open areas. I would try salt water mouth rinses--and see your own doctor to make sure everything is all right.
ETA: This does not sound like thrush to me. Thrush usually presents as a thick, whitish coating on the tongue and sometimes the gums or throat, but it shouldn't cause the kind of thing you're describing.

There are three things I can think of that would explain your symptoms:
1. An allergic reaction (the least scary as long as you can figure out what caused it and avoid whatever it is from now on)
2. Thrush, which is a yeast infection of the mouth; it's not usually very painful though, which leads to my third, and least desirable possibility...
3. Herpes. An initial outbreak of herpes (the virus that causes cold sores is a variation of the one that causes the STD) can be extremely painful and extensive. Have you been making out with anyone lately who might have transmitted this disease to you?

it sounds like they're severly chapped... chapstick will help, but it'll take a while... your best bet would be to get some medicated lip balm (neosporin makes some good stuff)... also try sleeping with a humidifier running, it'll help with the dry air you most likely breathe in during the night

Sounds like thrush-a yeast infection in your mouth and throat. You have to use medicine to get rid of it, so you're gonna have to see a doctor.

your lips are totally dried out don't use Vaseline to moisturize your lips its only acting as a barrier instead exfoliate your lips and use a really good chapstick also don't lick them when their dry only makes it worst
