I mean is the U S really one of the most powerful armies with the some of the best soliders in comparisson to other countries or is that ppl having USA pride.

Agreed, the military force of the United States is the single most powerful warpower on Earth. This is due not in small part to the technology in use and to the massive inventory of physical resources available to the United States. We have the most extensive, up-to-date sea power and air power ever known to man. We have tactical weapons systems that some other nations can only imagine.
While a couple forces could put up a good fight in numbers, if the US military is given full and complete control to accomplish a mission without any political interference, it has the skills, resources, and abilities to simply annihilate any other nation on Earth and could theoretically take many countries off the map. That said, full military control to accomplish a mission is rarely granted and politicians seem to feel they must intervene; often to the detriment of mission accomplishment.
We then have to consider, is it good for one country to have control of such overwhelming firepower? Only if the citizens in that country are aware of the responsibilities that come with that. There will always be "some kid coming after the fastest gun" and we have to remember that you don't always have to shoot that kid. Then again, sometimes you do.
Several have offered opinion of whether it's a good idea to join or whether the military treats you fairly, etc... I don't believe that was the question. I will tell you though, that in my 18 years of service in the Army, the Army never lied to me. They told me when I joined what an Army is for and they prepared me pretty well to do what soldiers do - fight in wars.

It is still the best of all other countries. We have the
latest technology and equipment, despite the fact that our
men were unable to get the protection apparel they needed
early on in the Iraq invasion.
We also have the bravest & most aggressive fighting force in our US Marines. And a strong US Navy, and US Air Force, and a strong back up force in our Reserve and National Guard units. All combined we have the largest and strongest fighting force in all the world. And we have to be, because all nations look upon us to be so.And so we take great pride in being such as well. We have gone in and saved many a
country in their time of need from being occupied by their
enemies as well as ours. If it weren't for our fighting forces,
why we'd have been overwhelmed years ago, during WWII.
And maybe we'd all be speaking either Japanese, or German
by being overrun by those nations. People had a different
mentality then. We were more unified, and we supported a
strong president. Someone who wasn't strong in appearance,
but was strong minded and was out for victory and stop
our enemies from taking over the world. We have great reason to be proud and have pride in our forces of
defense. They are following a disolusioned president
according to popularity polls. But we have faith that our good-
ness will prevail. And that also the misgivings we have today,
will be overturned when our troops return home again for
good.

I dunno. How do you judge? Those guys who say it is, then i would like to ask , how come the army still cant control the situation in Iraq, Afghanistan or catch Bin Ladin. They even failed their attempt in Iran (the hostage incident). Not to mention in other previous campaigns.
Having said that , I must admit the US played a mojor role to end the WWII.

no,but i am not talking about the same thing you are. the military will lie to get recruits and sometimes screw them after they sign. they are a good fighting force after you get past that though.
