There's a guy in my school i'm attracted to but i'm afraid he might be unavailable. How do I find out for sure if he is or not without straight out asking?

Just look at where he looks when a good looking person goes by him. See if he looks at the girls, or the boys....or maybe, both!

Well, what leads you to think he's unavailable in the first place? The only way I can think of is trying to befriend him first. If you're a friend, its more likely that you will hear from him, someone he knows, or see some more convincing evidence that he is gay. Keep your eyes and ears open is the only thing I can suggest. Ask him out. He may be interested in you; he may not be interested in you for reasons that have nothing to do with his sexuality; or he may not be interested in you because he is gay.
Or talk to a mutual friend about him.

if a girl asked if I were gay, I'd answer 'why do you ask, are you a man?'
