I don't have a terrible toothache as long as I brush my teeth twice or three times a day. Flossing helps too! The only gross part is that I get food stuck in that mini gap... so I've become addicted to listerine.

Well, you must go to the dentist soon to get it repaired. In the short term (just until your appointment) you can get temporary filling material at Walgreens , or most any large drug store, to fill the gap. Clean it out extremely well first, then apply the temp. filling.

That happened to a few of my teeth and I did what you did and didn't go to the dentist. Eventually, half of my tooth turned bright white and the side where the filling was broke off. Now I need root canals on the teeth I neglected. There's nothing you can do except keep it clean for now before you make an appointment and get the hell back to the dentist.

Keep it as clean as you can but you must go to your dentist now, that small gap is an always open door for bacteria, if you leave it like that (even using Listerine every hour) bacteria will get to the pulp and nerve and so your tooth will need a root canal treatment which is much more expensive than a filling.

Take care,
bye
