So far I have to get or have: hiking boots, orange vest, the gun will be provided. What else should a person bring that is interested in hunting but not 100 percent if it will be for HER.

Water for the pup and snacks for him/her afterwards as well. It is a workout for them. If it is your first hunt with the dog, then you need to be more concerned with the dog really performing well and not with your performing well. Concentrate on letting your dog do its job. For example: If you flush a bird and drop it only to flush a second bird. Let the second bird go and make sure your pup does a good retrieve of the first bird. If you do not let the dog know how things are to be done the first time around, it will only get harder and harder. I am assuming that the dog has had some training otherwise you are in for some hard work in the field.

Back to what you need. If you are making a full day of it, then bring a cooler with some drinks, no booze until after the hunt, and some light food. If you are not being guided on the hunt then you will need a way to carry the birds. Cabelas makes a ton of awesome orange game bird vests that kill two birds with one stone. (pun intended) Some good sturdy pants are always a great thing to have if you are going through any rough underbrush. Pants that will stop briars and thorns from cutting your legs up makes life a lot more enjoyable. Will you need ammo? Depending on the birds you are hunting, you will need to get a specific type of shell. I bring my dog a small portable soft dog bowl with dog specific energy snacks and a dog specific powder to put in his water as well. It seems to give him a kick at the end of the long hunt. Get a good hat to block the sun and some good glasses to block the sun's glare when shooting towards it.

These are all things that can make for a better hunt, but BOTTOM LINE: have fun, make sure the dog has fun and make sure everyone is safe.(but don't forget the water)

Don't forget to bring a bowl and water for your hunting partner. Some doggy treats would be in order as well.

If you are going on a dove shoot, I suggest some sunglasses, and sun screen as well. A cap or hat with a wide brim to shade your eyes will also be helpful.

Don't forget water and some snacks for yourself as well. And stay away from the booze until the guns are put away.

Good Hunting

Water, water, water. It would not be good if you could not find a water source for the dog while out there.

Watch, your springer display exactly what it is bred for. Should always stay in front of you working a zig-zag pattern, never going out of sight range. Mine did this with zero training, he already knew what to do.

A springer should flush birds without command, no pointing.

Should be a fun day for both of you

If your springer is like some I've had, you'll need a bag for the birds and a cooler. With my last springer, a comfortable seat and a lot of beer was more appropriate.
