Jesus was God in the flesh, he invented education.....but to answer your question......you are thinking more along the lines of Baptist,,,Methodist..etc....a lot of Pentecostal or Full Spirit churches.....have preachers called to be preacher,,and they make the most remarkable men of God...God trains them from the time they are young....when they are of age,,they usually know their Bible and that is what they need to know....They don't need to know how to speak or read Hebrew or Greek..they just need to know and understand what the Bible says...period....Some of the greatest Preachers did not go to Bible College....

Moses and Paul were two of the most effective men in the Bible and both had a spiritual calling to be what they were.. Moses chose to suffer with the people of God and Paul counted all things but loss that he might know Christ. I recommend a spiritual education, but if I had to make a choice of one over the other I would take ones knowledge of the Word of God over being an educated Bible scholar who only understood the word by his intellect..

You can't choose to be a preacher....God has to call you....if you choose to go to Bible College and become a Preacher without the blessing of God...you will not be an effective Preacher. Listen to what you think God is telling you.

What? Jesus was taught as all Jewish boys were taught and from the texts it is certain that he knew the scriptures and was as educated as any during that time period.

Furthermore, while I do not hold to the need of formal education of ministers it does behoove any person who feels God's calling to make every effort to attain wisdom(education) to help his flock.

I am a minister
I was not qualified for this position by formal training. Our denomination http://www.apostolicchristian.org/ simply recognizes when we have a need for a brother to teach and through prayer and the Spirit appoint the brother who we feel is qualified according to Biblical standards such as 1 Timothy 3 which interestingly does not put formal education as a qualification.
The brother serves in a voluntary capacity and is not paid for his services. This way, they can related to the struggles of those they are ministering to. Also everyone in the church is required to do the work of visiting etc. since no one person is "paid" to do it.

Jesus was not uneducated - if a preacher teaches incorrectly and people move away from God - the preacher is responsible.

Hello,

No, Jesus was educated and could read and write the scriptures unlike Mohamed for example. When he wandered off from his parents and talked to the scholars of the temple, they were very amazed at his intuition and knowledge.

Today you need to know everything from Ancient, medieval and modern history to theology and philosophy in order to understand what you are doing.

Cheers,

Michael Kelly

I agree with you in part. But a lot of training and education is done in language study and history, which I think is all that should be required. I think the pastor of a church should be able to study the word in its original language, but the obsession over theology and which denomination is right and wrong is pointless

On the contrary...Jesus was well educated in the Temple and in fact, astonished the Preists and Temple Leaders at an early age with His knowledge and wisdom!

Jesus is part of the Holy Trinity God-head. What school could possibly teach God anything worth knowing?
