if you are thinking of starting violin, start with an acustic.
if you've been playing for an extended period of time and have a full size violin, go electric.
i suggest Mark Wood electric violins, if you're an "expert".
or NS... i think that stands for ned steinberger.

Depends what you want to play on it. I use both, but I run a Barn Dance band and need the volume, so I use a purpose built Ted Brewer acrylic electric for that. For teaching, or for playing in pub sessions I use an acoustic. If, of course, you are a classical violinist you will most probably want an acoustic, but...look at Vanessa-Mae.(Ted brewer makes her violins.) Hope this helps

My friends dad plays the electric violin....
it's incredible!
But acoustic is also GREAT! I'm sorry, it's like asking which is better; acoustic or electric guitar! They are both good for different situations!
Good Luck!

I'm a sucker for traditionalism. To my ear, the acoustic violin has a finer tone and more subtle shadings than does the electric one. But that's just my opinion.

well, as much as i like acoustics, I LOVE electrics.
if u know how to play well, get an electric, if u dont, learn on an acoustic- you wont be sorry.
