I am doing research for my daughter for a project she is working on. What we want to know is what the traditional Native American beliefs are on suicide and the results to the individual commiting the suicide in the afterlife. Each time we researched this topic we could only get prevention topics. That is a great thing that so many are out there for prevention but for our research it is just halting our obtaining the information needed for our project on Native American spiritual beliefs on death and the afterlife.

as a general rule these things are just not discussed with people out side of our own tribe. Sometimes our own Clan.

These answers have to come from ELDERS. You won't find them online, and no REAL SKIN will tell you. We do not discuss our religion online.

While there are hundreds of tribes each with their own way, this is something we all agree on.

Well, there's a reason for that. Most Native nations don't exactly like to talk about these things openly, especially with the wannabe phenomenon stealing our traditional ideals and ways. You should also remember that there are over 500 Native nations, and each has a different view altogether.

If you can, contact a local tribe Shaaman or find some way to contact one. They would be the best source but I can bet that is would differ greatly from tribe to tribe.

Edit: I stand correct by our skindian friend here. :)
