If I were you, I'd work to demonstrate leadership - for example become captain of your school sport team(s), be editor of your school newspaper, mentor younger kids, start your own business, etc. And work to get your grades up. Remember to always keep your chin up! Good luck to you and God Bless!

the more education you have the better off you will be in the military. It is a great career but you need to know what you believe in. You will not always be loved by everyone. There are those that think the military is a waste of their tax dollars. Usually those are the type that could not stand up to military discipline. Your parents will not disown you. Do your job and live up,to your comittment to your country and they will endf up being very proud of you. If you decide to make a career think strongly before getting married. The divorce rate is high and you may have to share your pension with someone else in later years. I did 21 years and do not regret it. Howedver , if I had it to do over I would not of married until after I retired>

you need much better than average grades. you need 3.75 and higher grades, preferably in college Prep and AP courses. take as many Math and Science courses as you can.

DO NOT: Smoke, drink, do drugs, get a girl pregnant.

DO: join a sport, Volunteer, get some leadership experience. Go JROTC if you can.

Being Chinese is only a hindrance if you are not a Citizen. If your parents are not Citizens, you might have problems getting a Clearance.

Get a good education and decide if you want to be enlisted, a warrant officer, or a commissioned officer.

If you begin as enlisted then you have a chance for USMA. When I was at Ft Benning Georgia my friend Stephen Capps who ended being assigned to 2nd Battalion/502nd Infantry "Strike Force" started West Point and graduated in 1990.

I wish you the best.

The following is about my four years in the US Army

some times you have to go against the grain to find out things for your self ...to get in to west point you should run for student office...get some responsibility under your belt and have a 3.0-4.0 GPA....hope that helps also get a letter of recommendation from 1. you teachers 2. mayor 3. congressmen ..if you can

Listen to your parents as they have your best interests at heart. I know that this is the way I feel about my son. He has been in the Army National Guard for almost 20 years. I pray for the "troops." I still don't want my son in harm's way. My best wishes to you and your family. Peace and God Bless.

VERY HARD to get into West Point. You need to start writing to your congressman now. Keep in shape. Keep perfect grades from now on. Volunteer in your community. Join ROTC. Also, have a back up plan.

First, does your school have ROTC? If so, get in.
Second bust your butt for grades.
Third, write West Point a letter and tell them of your intentions and ask for their advice.
Fourth, write your congressman a letter and tell him/her of your intentions and ask for his/her advice. It takes a congressional letter to get into West Point. Senators will usually write this for quicker than you house rep.

Just in case, check out requirements for VMI and The Citadel

umm well don't go to the army thats all im sayin just think year and a half tours....marines is only 6 month.....marines bootcamp is the hardest by far, but army's is no cake walk either navy i heard wasn't that bad and the airforce is the easiest...in my opinion if your going to do something you might as well go with the best which is marines but it all depends on what you wanna do talk to all of them before choosing but don't accept it based on money cause they will throw it at you just to get you to sign for example the army...well you've seen the tv ads 20,000 just for signing yea thats b/c you won't live to spend it....but for real marines all the way be one of few and proud and thier uniforms look the best can't beat that
