Works fine on our new laptop with no problems. Does have some new features that are nice.

Not worth upgrading if you are not buying a new machine.

You may want to disable UAC and run as administrator although this defeats many of the Vista security features.

I am only on day 5 with Vista and I am so unhappy with it that I am thinking about returning my brand new computer and buying a used one instead.

My problem with it is that most of my old programs are not compatible with Vista. I spent the better part of one afternoon searching the internet for fixes to compatibility problems for Outlook alone. When I called the Geek Squad at Best Buy to find out what they would charge to fix my problems for me, they basically told me to buy the current versions of the software, which includes Office Professional and Quicken Deluxe. This would effectively double the amount of money that I spent on the computer.

It also has some annoying security features. When I try to run the software that I installed, I get pop-up boxes asking me if I want to allow the software to run or cancel. Well, duh, since I double clicked on it I think I want it to run... I have not yet figured out how to disable this feature and frankly, I no longer have the time or motivation to try.

I can still get my money back, but I will never get back the time that I wasted on it. Silly me - I thought that computer programs would become more and more user-friendly. My take on Vista is that Microsoft is taking productivity in the other direction.
